| FYI, Wes has just released to the public the balance of the 2001 vintage that was not sold through the allocation list. Futures pricing is no longer available, but these outstanding wines are. For availability and pricing, go to: http://www.clospepe.com/estate.htm Note, I have no financial interest in Clos Pepe, nor do I benifit in any way from their sales. I'm just a big fan of the wines, and think you will be too | | | 2008: the end of an error |

| | We had 1 of these @ our Pinot-tasting Dinner. I remember it was 1 of the more liked Pinots for me & all. I will check the Site, but been buying more Wine than I intended (originally). | | | |

| I'm on this mailing list (known as the 'allocation list' with this winery.
Haven't tried any of the wines yet though! I have the '00 Estate PN and will get a few '01s including the 'Vigneron Select' (aka their 'reserve' type bottling). Also picked up a few sweeties since it's the last time they will be offered.
Eric / j b - What would you equate these wines to (other bottlings in the marketplace)? As mentioned, I'm on the list but haven't even tried their wines yet! I have fairly high expectations (especiallly after seeing the '00 get an 89+ with room to increase with age from RP).

How do you get the wines? I didn't see any states on the Eastern seaboard listed as available to ship to.

The closest Pinot in the marketplace is Loring's Clos Pepe Bottling, which is quite similar indeed.
We had our one bottle of the 2000 Vigneron Select the other night, and it was wonderful - smooth, rich, and terrific Pinot character. Incidentally, at least with the 2000 release the VS was actually intended for earlier drinking than the Estate release.
Also, FWIW the sticky "Sweet Farwell" is the first and last release of a late harvest Chardonnay. So named because after harvest they replaced the Chard vines with more Pinot.
Another FWIW, 2002 according to Wes looks to be extraordinary, with tiny yeilds of .8 tons/acre - and Wes has decided to hold the price steady | | | 2008: the end of an error

| I found the '00 Clos Pepe Estate to be a fairly extracted balanced young wine in need of 2-5 years of cellaring. I still have 2 bottles left. You are correct about the "Sweet Farewell", Eric. I have three and haven't tried one yet. Wes told me they need to be held for 3 years before opening. I may try one this year to see what I think.
