| Per the mailer: Hello again from Saxum Vineyards, Today we are offering you two wines that we are very excited about, the 2006 Broken Stones and the 2006 James Berry Vineyard.
2006 Broken Stones, 63% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 13% Mourvedre
The
2006 Broken Stones differs a bit from previous vintages. We gave it a
little more time in barrel, 20 months to be exact, and pushed the
release back 6 months to give it extra time in bottle to settle down.
The fruit came from James Berry Vineyard, Heart Stone Vineyard, and
Booker Vineyard. As before, it is Syrah based but now has a good dose
of Grenache and a splash of Mourvedre. These 2006 wines are fairly
forward with a more open structure than the 2005's, which will make
them enjoyable at an earlier age.
2006 James Berry Vineyard, 45% Syrah, 38% Grenache, 17% Mourvedre
The
2006 James Berry has also changed somewhat from the 2005 vintage. We
like the Grenache element in it so much, we decided to keep all the
Rocket Block Grenache part of the James Berry blend. Sorry Rocket Block
fans, but we really want the James Berry to be the best wine we can
make using fruit from all of our varied parcels at James Berry Vineyard.
Here's what Robert Parker had to say when he tasted them from barrel in April."The
sensational, full-bodied 2006 Broken Stones (63% Syrah, 24% Grenache,
and 13% Mourvedre) reveals terrific cassis and raspberry fruit
interwoven with hints of charcoal, roasted meats, and underbrush. This
complex, opulent, full-bodied 2006 should drink well for a decade or
more." (94-96 points) drink 2008-2018
"The prodigious
2006 James Berry Vineyard (45% Syrah, 38% Grenache, and 17% Mourvedre)
is one of this challenging vintage's top efforts. Performing even
better this year than it did in 2007, it reveals phenomenal
concentration, a superb texture, and a stratospheric mouthfeel without
great weight or over-the-top sensations. Black fruits, licorice,
minerality, and floral notes are found in this intense, savory, broad,
long effort. It should drink well for 10+ years." (94-97 points) drink 2008-2018 Prices are reasonable for such quality. I'm all in.. 12+12+1 mag. $45 for the Broken Stones, and $55 for the James Berry.

| Parker obviously like them, what is everyone else's opinion of them? Dave, any chance I can pick up a couple from your allocation? Do they ship to ND? | | | |

| I'm buying 3 of each. I'm still trying to figure out if these wines (the broken stones in particular) ever come around. -Dave- | | | |
