  • 2006 South River Vineyard Chardonnay (3)
    $60.00
  • 2006 River Block Chardonnay (6)
    $55.00
  • 2006 Sweetwater Vineyard Chardonnay (2)
    $60.00

2006 Rachael’s Vineyard Chardonnay

This is the third release from this special hillside vineyard. This wine has the classic mineral and apple aromas with a touch of roasted almond and stone. Much like a grand cru burgundy, this wine has rich and sweet flavors with a firm structure and crisp acidity.

2006 South River Vineyard Chardonnay

This wine is produced from special loose clustered field selection of Chardonnay from the Hanzell Vineyard; grown near the Russian River on our estate. The yield was only 3.0 tons per acre. The grape clusters are pressed whole and the juice was barrel fermented and aged sur lie for nine months in 60 gallon specially selected barrels. Complex aromas of ripe fruit combine with floral notes with an element of roasted hazelnuts. The flavors are rich and full with pleasant acidity.

2006 River Block Chardonnay

This wine is a blend of three shy bearing clones of Chardonnay. Fifty five percent of the wine is from the Hanzell clone, twenty percent is from an old Wente selection, and twenty five percent from Dijon clone 95. This blend is created to capture the finest quality of this site. The wine is aged on the lees for nine months, giving it classic old world character. It is structured for aging and will reward those with the patience to cellar this wine. The average yield in the vineyard was 3.2 tons per acre.

2006 Sweetwater Vineyard Chardonnay

This is the first release from another special hillside vineyard planted to the old Wente field selection. This wine has the classic mineral and baked apple aromas that have a trace of vanilla and roated nuts. Very rich and complex, this wine has balanced flavors one would expect from this classic field selection and hillside planting. It also provides a firm structure and crisp acidity. Only 142 cases were produced.

I picked up the entire order. Have been using the SVD's as offline bottles most of the time, so they come in handy. Was worried after our experience with the River Block in Nov, but had another bottle recently and it was much better. Think the bad showing was a combination of drinking too soon and temp.

You guys should give in and try one of the 05 West Blocks... the nose on that thing is enough to get you high :-D

Drew, you must be talking Pinot......right?  I didn't see any West Block Chard in my spreadsheet.  I've got three bottles of the West Block Pinot though.  It won't be touched for another two years at least!

I have the following allocation.

  2006 Rachael’s Vineyard Chardonnay (1)  $70.00
  2006 South River Vineyard Chardonnay (3)  $60.00
  2006 River Block Chardonnay (6) $55.00
  2006 Sweetwater Vineyard Chardonnay (2)  $60.00

This time around I am only going to take 4 of the River Block.  If anyone is interested in the remainder, let me know.  You must be in one of the states they ship to, (Ak, AZ, CA, CO, FL, IL, IA, MI,  MN, MO, NV, NM, NY, NC, OH, OR, TX, VA, WA and WI residents) and must be willing to accept delivery of my 4 bottles and then ship them to me.
