The website (www.maybachwines.com) is accepting orders. Use your user name and password from last year.  My allocation last year was 3 @ $110. This year it was 4 @ $110.  No mag for me.  Sold to me!

I was a fan of the 05 when I tasted it in February so I think you will enjoy it when it arrives Jimmy.

Unless the '05 is a substantial step-up from the '04, I am passing.  Will likely pass in any event.

I think I'm going to pass on this. I just have too much wine. L'Aventure is also pitching a spring shipment, which I will probably cancel, even though I love their wines.

Dan, do you have any tasting notes on the 2005 Maybach? What would you consider this similar to?

I drank the bottle at dinner with friends so I didn't take any notes.  The bottle did disappear pretty quickly however.  The what is similar question is a tough one.  Frankly it didn't seem similar to me to any Oakville Cabs except perhaps faintly to Gargiulo's new Cab but it plays it more close to the vest than that wine.  Its a very fine Cab.  Not at all over the top or sweet the way many Cabs can be nowadays.  Not as structured as many 05 Cabs can be.  Stephanie was less impressed with the wine than I was.  We drank the Maybach after a 2003 Marcassin BSR Pinot and while it wasn't the BSR I did really enjoy the Maybach.  I will try it again at the end of April at the SF Guardsman Wine Auction and will post an update if warranted.

I passed on this (not buying any wine whatsoever), but the 2004 Maybach at dinner Sunday night was excellent. I would expect very good things from the 2005 vintage.
