A few data points from another board: I recently had a Kanzler, not KB, but Kanzler 2005 Sonoma Coast and I had a bad experience with it also. It said pinot on the label but it sure as hell didn't taste like it. I would have picked it blind for a syrah. It was like drinking cough syrup. My mind was wanting a pinot but my tongue got something else. Have you had one of these? BTW, I have only had one KB Kanzler and I thought it was great. Kanzler 2005 Sonoma Coast - sweet, syrupy, IHOP wine, yuck. 83 Peay Lovely suite of wines
2005 Chardonnay - Explosive, rich, great depth, nice minerality and acidity. Oak present but not protruding. California Chardonnay can never be white Burgundy, but it can be this. 93
2005 Pinot Pomarium - elegant bing cherry, touches of raspberry, some earth, nice balance. Fine and refined. 92
2005 Pinot Scallop Shelf - somewhat darker profile, earthier, some nice sweetness to hold it together. 92
