Pretty sizable allocation, my allocation was 3/0/6/2/1 (12 total) with no mags.

Mine was even smaller: 1/0/6/2/1 with no mags.  Pretty bummed about this as I had budgeted for both Bard and To Kalon.  Somehow, after buying 3 Bard last year, I was cut back to 0.  And to make matters worse, I had moved my Merus money over to this producer to buy even more.  And to top it off, I made a "convert" who wants to piggyback on my order.  This was going to be a big order. Now, not so much.  Gonna have to rethink passing on Merus.

Considering the turmoil at Merus if I had limited funds I'd think twice (and then some) before investing in Merus.

True enough.  More of a rant than anything else.  I should have said: "Looks like I am going to have to move this budgeted money over to Jones Family."

Of course as you know I didn't mean it that way (although naturally I like the way you think...).
Re Merus my primary concern would be the current bottle that at $135 is pushing your envelope (as it does mine) may well turn into a $200+ bottle in a short time frame given the change in ownership.

Not to hijack the Realm thread, but what turmoil at Merus? if it is the ownership change, will it affect the 2005 release?

Mine was 3/0/6/2/1.  I was one of the people whose check was cashed after the fire.  I applied my credit to the 2004 vintage.  I recall them saying that the people that were caught up in that tragedy would get extra large allocations henceforth.  I guess that didn't last long.  I suppose its neither here nor there since I'm not ordering anyway.

Check out the Merus thread.  Long story short, Bill Foley now owns Merus.  Bob B. provided the info that this is due to a divorce...

Anyway, this hasn't affected the 2005 release.

E-mail correspondence with the winery reveals that allocations were done entirely based on total dollars spent irrespective of which bottlings you have shown a preference for.  Even if you never ordered a Tempest in the past but ordered The Bard, that would not change the fact that you can order Tempest now, but not the Bard. Allocations do not seem to have been impacted by whether or not you were one of the folks (like me) who allowed them to keep your money after the fire and didn't demand a refund.  The irony is that this silly allocation system and poor customer relations will probably result in enough people passing such that those who do order will probably get what they want off the Wish List.

Wow.  That is an incredibly poor strategy for Realm to take.  How soon they seem to forget about those that helped them.

Thanks for following up with them.  That seems like a poor allocation policy.  They are small enough that they should be able to tailor their allocations more.

Jimmy, were they willing to adjust your allocation?

They have a clear but separate wish list area. Is that as good as having a guaranteed allocation? No, but it is better than Harlan (and others), where you send in an order and just see what happens.

I realized my comment probably does not make sense out of context.  I noticed that interestingly enough, there are limits on how much you can wish for.  I do not have any inside info, but I suspect the wish list may play an important role in the size of eventual orders

I don't have any interest in Realm other than finding their wines generally very good to excellent.

No.They simpy advised to make good use of the Wish List.  Because I have a friend who was looking forward to this, I went aggressive.  After being allocated one To Kalon, I wish-listed 6 more. And after being offered no Bard, I requested 4.  We'll see what happens.  I still find it repugnant that someone who bought 3 Bard last year is left "wishing" for 4 this year.

Wish List partially granted. Got 2 out of 4 "Bard"; 3 out of 6 To Kalon.
