I am in the same boat, in that I don't buy for selling purposes. I am actually stupid in this regard in that I sell a lot of (closed/full) mailing list wines off to board members (at cost) even when they garner the good ole RP 100.
I actually don't (sadly) buy much anymore. Between working nights where you only have two nights a week to even touch wine and at this point, not having worked for quite a few months(can't wait to start on the 18th!!) taking a big bite out of any money I have/had and that would go towards purchases. Luckily I get tom taste a boatload from being in the industry and that makes up for it some.
I am also not used to living on the mainland where it is so easy to sell. For me almost every cent of profit and then some would have been eaten up by the time I shipped the wine from HI to the mainland to sell. |
