| just got e mail from pride for their '05 reserve cab and claret. the price stayed the same at $125 and sangio @ $55.
mag are available @ $300 each and will be lottery my allocation is for 3 claret, 6 cab and 3 sangio also this is what they said about the allocation ABOUT YOUR ALLOCATION . . . This year's purchase will effect next year's allocation. We ask for a minimum order of three bottles of Reserve Cabernet to maintain your place on the Reserve List. If you do not order the minimum, we will understand that you are no longer interested in our Reserve program and remove your name from the Reserve List. If you have had Reserve Claret and/or Sangiovese allocated to you, due to their extremely limited production, we must ask that you purchase all three bottles offered in order to have them included in your allocation next year. Your allocation is not transferable.

| I'm passing for their use of "effect" where they mean "affect". For $125/bottle they should be able to afford an editor.

| I'm a fan of their reserve bottlings as I've had a bunch with friends over the years, but have not risen to allocation level on their list. Unfortunately, I've tired of buying their standard offerings which I don't think are anything special any longer given the competition and am unwilling to spend a ton on the regular bottlings just to eventually get on the reserve list. I played their game for a few years and I'm done.

| My thoughts exactly. Four years of buying the "basic" Cab, and I haven't loved a single bottle of it. Still no Reserve. I am done with this one. A shame too, as I am always open to sub-$75 Cabs, especially nowadays. Just wish I like theirs better. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

SQN has increasing quatities available due to their new vineyard coming on-line. On the other hand, Pride does not have any new sources to pull from. The have a replanted vineyard coming on-line soon, but I think that it won't add that much to the availability of these wines.

| Does it still garner much of a markup in the secondary? I took a quick look at winebid and it seemed only the 2001 were really going for at least double acquisition cost. Obviously that has nothing to do with how easy it is to sell, but is it worth the outlay(I forget that I am one of the few poor people on this board ;) ? | | | |

| Jason - these days I mostly purchase for personal consumption. There are very few - if any - wines that can be immediately flipped for 100% profit. I don't buy wine for the profit, but if I know that I can sell the wine for what I paid without a bath, it reduces my worries about buying my allocation.
And if you stop buying wine, you will soon be more affluent than many on the board ;-) | | | |
