I've really liked the few of these I've tried, but how much super expensive CA Cab does one need ? 2005 Bond 4 packs - one 750 each of Melbury, Vecina, St Eden and Pluribus $1100, or $275/bottle ... 2004 Matriarch 3 packs $255, or $85/bottle ... IIRC, the Bonds are up $25 from the '04s and the Matriarchs are the same ... That can't be right ...

I opened the envelope out of curiosity -- I never signed up for this list. Was it really an offer? It was indeed. I don't think the market for $200+ Napa Cabs is as strong as the wineries cranking prices up every vintage would like us to believe.

I think they will manage to sell these, but I'd bet a large number go to restaurants/retail. It does not seem that their mailer business is doing all that well. No feeding frenzy anymore. I have passed the last several vintages, and will do so again.

I got a second chance letter today. I might rethink the Matriarch... although I do seem to buy them only in even numbered vintages...hmmmm

I'm trying to cut back but I'm tempted at the Matriach too. It's a wine you can always break even with if you sell it at auction.

Don't know what it is about Bond, but IMHO they give off a holier than thou vibe and while I've perhaps been guilty in the past of being "marketed" into buying some expensive wines I've never really been tempted to spend that type of money for their undeniably quality juice. If I'm going to be "marketed" aka suckered into paying a lot for a bottle of wine I'll admit I fall easier for the "aw shucks" approach as opposed to the, "we're royalty and you're lucky to have us" approach. BTW, I could be totally wrong about the people behind BOND. I'm just giving my initial/natural reaction that their marketing & correspondences tend to illicit (from me at least).
