Speaking of older Cali chards...

This weekend, Crafty, Aunt Mooshka, sprnplr and I had a 93 Kistler Dutton Chard.

It was absolutely awesome!!!!!
Truly amazing.  You should write this up and sell it to Wine Spectator.  Most older (older than five years) Kistler's I've had in the past two or three years have been disaster cases.

Aubert in transit. I agree with davidn about the quality. The 06 Peay is a step up from last year's chard, though, and worth checking out. At it's price point it is fair value imho.

By the way, I've had some stellar bottles of the 04 Lauren recently. If you decant them off of the sediment, they are even more stunning. I'm sorry I drank all the other 04 Auberts so I have nothing to compare them to, but the 05s are waitin'. Seamless balance, impeccable concentration, almost a citrus oil quality to the texture, and a minute long finish. I wonder how they will age...but opening one now is about as special an occasion as I could buy for ANY price (winewise, of course). The Yquem of California Chards.

Four cases are scheduled to show up any minute. Right now I'm clearing out a space in the racks for them. It's liable to take a few days. I really should rearrange my entire Chard section. At the moment it is rather helter-skelter.

Aubert has arrived in Houston - nice and early, before it had a chance to heat up in the back of the truck. This is thanks to Futo, who shipped yesterday via Overnight Priority, so I was one of the first stops today. Time to pull put an '03 or '04 to try ...

As I'm reading Scott's post FEDEX rolls up with Aubert. It is only 71 degrees so heat was not a problem.
