Edit to show that is a second offering of the same wines.

My allocations run between 3 and 12 per wine.  I'm not sure what I might order but I will say that an allocation of three bottles is my bare minimum for even considering an order (any mailing list wine).  Even three bottles is pushing it.

2005 La Neblina Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir - $45
2005 Alberigi Russian River Valley Pinot Noir - $45
2005 Savoy Anderson Valley Pinot Noir - $50
2005 Las Colinas Sonoma Coast Syrah - $38
2005 Timbervine Russian River Valley Syrah - $50
2005 Cherry Camp Sonoma Coast Syrah - $50
2005 Von Weidlich Russian River Valley Zinfandel - $42

On the positive side for Radio-Coteau - the wines have aged very well from 2002 and continue to improve.  Many Cali Pinot makers don't get close.

I got the same mailer (e-mail really with a mailer to follow) and my allocations are the same. I am torn. I love the R-C wines but I've been buying just too much wine. Maybe I'll buy one of each like I did last mailer.

I love these Pinots, and my they are among my wife's favorites. But I am going to have to wait to see what my Kosta Browne SVD and 4-Barrel allocations look like, as well as waiting on my Aubert Pinot offering to see if I have money left over. (Or more accurately, to see just how far over budget I already am vs. how far over I care to be).  If these sell out in the meantime, I will just have to live with what I bought in the Spring.  Too few "La Neblina" for sure. But shipping costs caused a cut back.

In Feb, my allocation was 5 Neblina + 1 Alberigi, and I bought.

Now, my allocation is 12 Neblina + 0 Alberigi.

A couple of months ago, I went to a tasting where RC was pouring and bought 6 Alberigi from them

My quesiton: if they will sell it to any schmo at a tasting, why didn't they offer it to me the first time?
Oh, I agree, great wine

Why does this feel like deja vu?  Didn't I order the R-C already?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is... .ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.

This is the final offer to the list members that have not ordered.

I like their wines, but I'll pass. I have limited storage space for oversize bottles and vowed to make this a major selection criteria.
I am seriously thinking of passing on KB SVD as well.

WIML.  The more times that I pass on RC the greater my allocations.   I love those guys (that guy?)!

It's the same old story.  A winery explodes on the scene and wine geeks everywhere scramble to get on the mailing list.  After a couple of years the winery isn't "hot" anymore because several newer and even more exciting wineries have emerged.  Those wineries who expected their 15 minutes of fame to last forever have a rather rude awakening and are shocked to find that they still have wine to sell.

Had I been offered more Savoy, I would have bought it. I was disappointed to be offered less Savoy in the spring than I had purchased in 2006, but perhaps yields were down.  I also thought the Cherry Camp and Timbervine Syrahs were very good this year.  I'm tempted, but I'm on a wine buying hiatus, and I WILL NOT BE SUBVERTED.

Thanks Richard. I' ll try and remember to source from you as their allocation system seems seriously out of whack. BTW, give my best to Kiko.

I thought I had ordered this stuff before. I really like their wines, but I am also largely on wine hiatus/probation, too, so I think this will just get filed away...

Love the RC wines, really wine for wine has been one of my favorite producers. That said, we bouth a lot earlier this year so will have to see what we were offered and see if we felt we wanted more but did not get on the last mailer. Probably not.

Thanks but that's probably not a good idea .... yet.  I did get two syrahs and the zin for the store this year but only two of the pinots, so if there's a wine you must have then the mailing list is still the safest way to get them.  My point was simply that more and more "hard-to-get" wines are getting easier to get.  Three pieces of evidence:

1.  Wineries/sales reps are offering me wines that they wouldn't even sell me a couple of years ago - "Sorry, we only sell our wines to the very best restaurants".

2.  Wineries have been sending out reminder e-mails ("Don't forget to get your order in!") or even a second offering of the same wines that had been offered earlier.

3.  Sea Smoke showed up at Costco last month.

It's still early, but it certainly appears that the number of good wines is increasing at the same time that money available for wine purchases and cellar space are shrinking.  Another large crop or two and we might even see wine prices start to drop.

My first thought, too;  sent me quickly to the filing cabinet to double check.

That said, they are excellent wines year-in and year-out and I do appreciate getting a second chance to order one that I might not have ordered enough of.  Of course, at this writing I haven't opened any 2005's or 2004's yet from R-C...  duh ?!?
