The Peterson family hit the Salinia Open House this weekend and we had two absolutely stellar wines, and a couple of others from barrel across the business park at Lattanzio Wines.
First off, the wine of the day for us was the 2006 Heintz Estate Syrah. Stunning complexity and will only get better with time. Has that bacon fat characteristic I love so much. 95 R8der points!
Second was the 2006 Ethan's Block Pinot Noir. This is a tremendous fruit forward heavily extracted Pinot that is made in the KB mold, ready to drink now, but will only get better. 94 R8der points!
Both of these wines are made by Kevin Kelly at Salinia. We tried all of the wines, but these two really stood out. The 2003 Salinia Keefer was also kicking ass, but unfortunately he is sold out and I only have one bottle left of that.

After we tried all of these wines we went across the business park to Justin Lattanzio's place where he makes Lattanzio Wines. We tried his 2006 W.E. Bottoms Pinot, and it was bottled so recently that I think it was going through bottle shock. We'll have to try it again soon....as his 2005 was stellar. We also barrel sampled two different Syrah's he had, and they were both excellent....reminded me of Shanes efforts.....these young guys are kicking out some awesome wine! He is planning to bottle these in January, so I'd join his list now if you want to get any...he only had 6 barrels of each!
