| 2005 La Bruma Syrah $452005 Les Titans Syrah $45My allocation 6 of eachVia email from Peay: It is with great excitement that we release our 2005 Estate Syrahs, La Bruma and Les Titans. 2005 was quite a cool year and these wines express the vintage with a clarity and style that will please lovers of northern Rhône wines.
A few days ago we poured these wines for 30 of our Bay Area sommeliers at our annual Sommelier Love Fest party and the response was very enthusiastic. Rajat Parr from Michael Mina thought they were our best Syrahs yet and plans to blind taste them against the finest Côte Rôties (the La Turque, La Landonne, etc.) with French winemakers on his next visit. He thinks they will be the group favorite. Who is to say, but I am not arguing with him.
As with the spring release, the production was very low in 2005 due to tiny yields. We made only 285 cases of Les Titans and 460 cases of La Bruma. The newsletter will arrive in your mailbox today or tomorrow. You can also download a pdf of the newsletter from our web site at www.peayvineyards.com.  Âmore misc after this

A quick check of the cellar shows a few of each of the previous vintage. Since we aren't drinking that much US Syrah these days it's probably a pass this round.

| Budget doesn't allow for $45 Syrahs. If anyone wants mine, let me know. I got the 12 + 12 + magnums offer. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |

| I opened a 2004 La Bruma last night and was a little disappointed with the concentration and complexity for $45. Will drink the remainder tonight to see if it gets any better and open a 2004 Les Titans. This will help me make a decision on my purchase... | | | |

| offered 12 and 12 of the syrah, 2 mags of each and 12 of the scallop shelf pinot @50 too. anyone else notice that the pinot was offered again... the chard is on there but it says it is sold out. I only bought the whites last mailer...
a mag of Peay syrah. that sounds awesome...
i will open one of the 04 syrahs tonight to see if I think it is worth getting some of these. I really loved the 03 soon after release and also just a few weeks ago as well. I haven't had any 04 yet, but if they are crafted anything like the 03 then i will probably get some... and a mag is tempting...

| I ended up buying 5 each, but I passed on the mags because of the shipping costs. It amounted to $16 per bottle for the mags. | | | |

| Everett,
I agree with you on the "La Bruma". I opened a bottle back in June and found it a little more rustic than the "Les Titans". It wasn't very well integrated. Strong tannins, sharp acidity and bright fruit. A lot of things shouting at you but not working well together. On the other hand the Titans, I found well integrated mix of bacon fat, meat, dark fruit, game and flowers. My kind of Syrah.
Hopefully you'll find the Titans more to your liking.
That being said, I'm trying to cut back so I only ordered 1 of each...
Tim
