Mailer came today.  Anyone biting?

Dear Friends,

We write to you this year to announce the release of the 2003 Abreu Madrona Ranch. This offer in 2007 marks the 20th anniversary of the first release of Madrona Ranch in 1987.

In 2003, the wet spring delayed bud break. Consequently, the vines at Madrona Ranch completed bloom in June. Berry set was even, yielding medium-size clusters throughout the ranch. With the abundant rainfall our vineyard crews were busy removing unwanted shoots and laterals in order to give the growing clusters adequate sun exposure. During green thinning we removed more than half of the crop. The oldest vines at Madrona Ranch, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, were severely thinned to less than 2 tons per acre. In addition, both the Merlot and Petit Verdot vines were thinned to one cluster per shoot. We were blessed with perfect weather in August, September, and October. Early September was very warm with three heat spikes evenly spread throughout the month. The Merlot was harvested September 27. The warm and dry temperatures continued through October. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc at Madrona Ranch were harvested in two separate picks on October 7 and October 17. The Petit Verdot was the last to be picked at the end of October.

"The 2003 Madrona Ranch is just an amazing wine in the vintage. Gorgeously rich and full-bodied and more up-front and forward than most Abreu wines have been. This is a prodigious effort with abundant concentration, elegance, and finesse."
-Robert Parker, Jr./The Wine Advocate

In addition to the Madrona Ranch we are also offering a very limited wine called Rothwell Hyde. As some of you know, this wine is a blend of special lots from both Madrona Ranch and Thorevilos. The 2003 Rothwell Hyde is the third release of this wine - a proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with small percentages of Merlot and Petit Verdot. The finesse and elegance of Madrona Ranch coupled with the intense flavors and ripe tannins from Thorevilos yield a wine that is complex yet approachable. In 2003 there were only 7 barrels that were selected for the Rothwell Hyde.

Along with both the 2003 Abreu Madrona Ranch and Rothwell Hyde, we also offer you two extra virgin olive oils. The 2006 Madrona Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil, made from 100-year-old Arbequina, Farga and Picholine olive trees, is rich and dense with a soft buttery mouth feel and an intense finish. The 2006 Cappella Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a blend of five Italian varieties: Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino, Maurino and Coratina. The oil is fresh and spicy - a perfect garnish to grilled meats or vegetables.

Due to our critical selection in the vineyard and in the winery, the production of Abreu Madrona Ranch is less than 500 cases. Please note that the 2003 Madrona Ranch, the 2003 Rothwell Hyde and both 2006 extra virgin olive oils are very limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

We strongly encourage you to order online. We accept MasterCard and Visa. By clicking on the following link www.abreuvineyards.com, you may place your online order.  Please return your order form or order online by August 6, 2007. The Madrona Ranch will be shipped via FedEx 2nd day air on October 29, 2007 (weather permitting). Abreu Vineyard will only ship to states that are serviced by FedEx. We understand that some states not listed do allow for shipment of wine with restrictions, but due to our small size, we will only ship to the following states:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming

If you live in one of the states that does not allow direct shipment of wine, please provide us with an alternative address. If you are shipping your wine to a relative or storage facility in California, please note that you will need to pay California sales tax. Your order will not be processed without a legal address.

We are thankful for your support of our wines. We wish all the best for you and your family.

Salute,

David, Rico, Matteo & Lucia

If anyone wants 1-2 of my Madrona, please PM. I'm getting really tired of $285 a bottle wine...... On the bright side, I got the Carlisle email today!

Once the wine crossed $250, I said good-bye. By the time I get this wine to NJ, it would have cost me $310+. Man oh man, one has to draw the line somewhere.

It's getting painful.  I ordered 1 and 2 just to stay on the list.  Is their olive oil any good?  With tax and shipping they are about $50 each and one already sold out.

I like their olive oil and it tends to disappear really quickly from the kitchen.  $50 is serious money though.

I just got a secondary offer of 3 Madrona, 3 Rothwell.  These high prices have a way of cutting down the Waiting Lists I guess.
