I am sure most of you saw the thread on ebob as well, but I read that the KB mailer is coming via email on Monday, August 21st.

Hopefully Tony V won't mind me copying/pasting this from ebob, but here are some of his comments:

Secure allocations until Sept 18. Online ordering...

...the List of Designates and those non-LoD who were offered the 03 single vineyards last year will have slightly increased allocations on a couple of the wines and similar allocations on a couple of the wines....

Any wait list customers that will be added to the active list will be added for the 05 appellation wines next Spring...

As a "non-LoD who were offered the 03 single vineyards last year will have slightly increased allocations on a couple of the wines and similar allocations on a couple of the wines", I say right on.

"Excuse me, sir. Is there a case in the back?" Had a bottle last week and it was knocking doors down...

Good wine but I would pass on it at $65. Someone was buying it though... it was cleaned out.

$65 is a steal!!

6 bottles of the 2004 KB RRV just went for $160 each this weekend on winebid.com

Doesn't Whole Foods have a 10 or 15% discount on 6 bottles? That would have been a decent price then at retail.

Was this the Whole Foods near downtown Austin? OMG...I nearly had the "O" when I walked in there. It's so freakin huge with so many things. I wasn't impressed with the wine selection though. We visited 3 times within a 48 hour period

Hmm, interesting info Prosp.

Yes, this was the downtown WF/headquarters. It's a great place to shop when you get a parking place. Sort of like the Super Bowl of WF. Sometimes there are wine deals but the wines are mostly overpriced.

Is the LoD a separate list?? I've only purchased once so far, just the last mailer.

I'll take the KB RRV over most of the Kistler's I've had.

Quoting Tony V. from the ebob.com forum:

List of Designates - this is a group that has supported us in vintages prior to 2003. Their allocation is slightly larger and they have access to any special wines produced. I.e., our 4-Barrel Pinot Noir.

For a discussion of the LoD and general allocation issues, see:

I just want one of the 3L bottles of 04 Kanzler I saw in the cave today. About all they have left at their old digs is their "special" wines.

Hello all (1st post). I'm very new to wine and wine mailers. I'm just curious how long I may have to be on the waiting list for the KB mailer before I will actually have access to any wine. I registered on their site on June 6 of this year. I get the impression that it will be a long time before I get a chance to even get one bottle.

Any insight would be appreciated. thanks

Welcome to VC! Post often.

Unfortunately you've arrived a little late on the scene, especially with the latest Wine Spectator issue and the scores. KB expects to move people off the list next spring with the '05 blends. I would imagine you are looking at 2+ years, but that's strictly a guess.

Now not being on the list doesn't mean you won't be able to buy wine at retail, auction or from those generous members on this BB....

Good luck and look forward to your poasts.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they currently have 4500 people on their wait list.

From the lips of Michael Browne.....confirmed by Tony. Scoring a 98 is not always a positive....at least not for the consumers.

With their limited production, I'm afraid if you are anywhere higher than number 500 on that wait list then you are in for a very long wait.

Chris
