| San Francisco Wine Trading Company ( SFWTC ) has become my go-to wine store. Most of the salespeople are very knowledgable and those who aren't do not try to pretend otherwise, but will, instead, hand you off to the owner or one of the others who know their wines. They specialize in Robert Chatterdon Selections and are the only good source of them in the Bay Area (or at least SF) that I know of. They stock particularly large quantities (both both breadth and depth) of Quintarelli and Billecart-Slamon -- two of my very favorite producers. Customer service is excellent. They now recognize me as a good customer and when their CC machine was down they simply took my CC number and e-mail address and told me they'd bill me the next day. (They took no additional info and I was removing Quintarelli Reciotos from the premises.) I've never gotten a corked bottle from them but I have supreme confidence in their willingness to accept one back if it happened, even if it were one that a distributer would not replace. As a Chatterdon store, they have Normand-Mercier Cognacs (probably my favorite producer) and a great selection of Grappas.
Some of their expensive and rare bottles are not put on display so ask. They also specialize in Kermit Lynch Selections. My only gripes about the store are that they do not have a parking lot (although I've always been able to find street parking) and that they are near nothing else of interest to me. Prices are reasonable but not astounding, I go here for service and selection. | | I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland. -- Woody Allen

| Yes, good selection and their buyers have great palates. They asked me about the wines I like to drink, and feedback on those that they recommend, so now they just call me up and say we have something you will like and I will probably buy it even if I have not heard of it before. They have turned me on to so many tasty pinots, and it is the only shop I know of where I can find Turley on the shelf.
Also a great tasting program. Just about every Saturday, and always $10. Usually an interesting mix. Today it was Paraduxx, Turley, Unti and other zins. Nice. Usually a well chosen and eclectic selection.
