I wouldn't go that far ricky. Many (myself included) bought the '00 and flipped immediately at cost just to hold a place in line to see if Sloan gained any traction in the market. I was hoping that perhaps Parker might make this into a $200+ bottle in the secondary market with his hype. I don't think this has happened. And with Wine Commune hitting the skids for private sellers, trying to flip this has become more of a hassle. Without the ability to flip this wine to fund other purchases, I have no reason to buy. So buying the '00 does not automatically mean that you are silly for passing on the '01.

I will open the 01' and decide what to do after I get it.

I recommended this to several friends and they too are contemplating the Sloan 01 deal.

I doubt this wine will garner any significant market value increase in the scondary market as the pricepoint is already way too high.

My 2 cents. Even a 100 point rating won't make this wine appreciate 100% to offset the cost of the 00's IMO

I'll be buying for myself. The hard question is whether it is 3 or 6. Here is somewhere that I wish I had Parker's updated TNs on the wine. I'm afraid of a Blankiet-sized drop in the ratings. I wish I could taste the wine myself, or hear from someone that has recently tasted the 01 sloan. At this point, parker's tasting notes are about 14 months out of date.

Too many good wines out there, and at that price ($165/bottle), I'll pass.

Don't forget, Laube gave this a 96 as well. So when both Laube and Parker both say it's amazing, I feel pretty comfortable.

Fancy envelope and big price, but no information on the wine. What’s up with that? Is it wrong to expect more, actually something? A bit disappointed…..My order for 6 goes out tomorrow. Viva the elitists?

I'll be buying 3 myself, as will a friend of mine. I plan on drinking it too (the initial tasting note sounds fantastic), unless it does take off and become a no-brainer to sell at some point in the future.

The additional bottles are spoken for, thanks!

randy-i would not be too concerned about a blankiet sized drop in ratings. when parker proclaimed the 2000 blankiet cab " one of the single greatest young wines i have ever put in my mouth ", the wine had barely been in barrel. when parker tasted the 2001 sloan out of barrel, the wine was just being bottled, thus much further along the line. also, instead of focusing on the the 96-99 barrel score, people should focus on the verbage for the 01 and sloan in particular. two of his favorite people in wine are involved in this project and the wife of one of his favorite winemakers. parker than compares sloan's winemaking treatment to that of colgin, bryant and harlan. i will be shocked if parker's final score is not within the 96-99 range. in fact, based on parker's own conservative nature for barrel scores and not wanting to repeat the blankiet thing, i would be surprised if the final score is not in the high range. of course, this all just my own opinion.
