| Reputable local wine shop has these futures for $99.97/ bottle. 1/2 now rest at delivery in November. Had read somewhere that the '01 was very highly rated (I believe by Laube) but can't find the rating now Any thoughts?? This wine always seems to be pretty consistently good. | | |

| I bought mine from the winery as a member of Phelps Preferred. I paid $385 apiece for two double magnums of '01 Insignia. I'm happy as a pig in anthony's underwear! | | | |

| Every one that I talk to says that it is a buy. I will be waiting until it hits NJ. Usually, these are about $89.99 in NJ. | | | |

| ah shucks board-o, i never knew you cares so much
lcc,
that will be my course of action as well. remember people, they make about 20K-25K of this stuff every year and if you can't do the math, that's a hell of a lot of wine.

| $89.99 on the shelves?....sheesh. I've already talked to some local stores and it will be $115-$120 here in Atlanta. | | | |

I've noticed that the prices for Insignia in NJ are low. Any idea why?

| Rothko,
It's because they made the winery an offer they can't refuse. | | | Cheers, y'all

AI, you continue to say this and you continue to be wrong. They've made 20K cases once (1997) to my knowledge. In 1998 it was 14K and lower in 1999. Prior to 1997 the case quantities were always lower than 15K (I think they had a confluence of things happen in 1997, more vineyards came online and a large high quality crop of grapes). I'm not sure about 2000 or 2001 but I would highly doubt Phelps has produced anywhere near 25K cases. They do make alot of it (but not nearly as much as Opus One which has been at 30K cases for awhile). I've had the 2001 at the Insignia Release party at the winery in mid May and it was fantastic. If you can find it for $90 I'd get it. However with all the hype about the 2001 vintage I wouldn't expect retailers (or Phelps) to discount heavily.
