I went to the grocery store to look at their selection of mexican beers. Is Pacifico Claro what you are recommending?

Yes it is.

Last night in the heat & humidity........Becks. This is my favorite summer beer. Mostly because it's the only beer my dad pretty much allows on the boat becuase he claims it's the best beer you can get in a can, so I sort of grew up on the stuff.

Rothko - yup, that's the one. The label, to me, looks a bit like a pre-school drawing.

Fred,
Depends on how big the can is - you can get just about anything in the 7.75 gallon container...

ahhhh very insightful thinking there, but the coast guard really takes exception to kegs on boats. They bust you for drinking and driving a boat, and trust me it is not recommended, the learnings of a misspent youth. I've SEEN a subriety test being giving to someone on a boat once and it wasn't pretty.

Tonight,

North Coast Brewing Company - Old Stock Ale.

Wasn't careful enough reading the label when I purchased. 11.5% alcohol. WTF? Not used to seeing thick legs in my beer glass.

Usually when I have a burner like this, it tastes like a hospital. This actually was pretty decent. Scotch, caramel and hops flavors. Maybe the slightest bit of chocolate liquer. Went back to read the label again and it suggests a year of cellaring. Again, WTF? It could use a little calming down, so I guess I'll try cellaring it and see what happens.

I should have been suspicious with the vintage dating.

Heh, heh, heh,....

Those North Coast folks sure know how to make heavy beverages. Their Imperial Stout is pretty tasty and quite a knock out. I was just talking about this beer with my friendly neighborhood bartender. He said they only get it around the holidays. I'm kind of suprised you can get it right now. My personal favorite North Coast Beverage is the Old #38 stout. Better than Guiness (and it isn't even close).

I am pretty sure I saw the Imperial stout also. I'm willing to gove it a try.

I love North Coast Imperial Stout. That reminds me...I have one remaining 1998 Tenth Anniversary Ale I saved for curiousity. Aged in whiskey barrels and finished with a cork they made 1000 cases of 750's. I'll have to give it a try.

To take us onto the next page - Delerium Tremens. No, not a symptom of Malaria but a Belgian beer. Comes in a nice bottle and you can get a matching glass with pink elephants all over it - saves you worrying when you see them flying around the room. Lovely, fruity beer.

KillerB- That reminds me of my beer brewing day's we made a hemp beer. aweful nasty stuff and aside from it being strong as hell it didn't give us any of the desired effects. Although I have had a FANTASTIC hemp beer at a place called Siebenstern in Vienna Austria.

Had our party last night. My wife vetoed the Pacifico, since "we have enough of that other beer".

Most people preferred the Red Stripe to the Kalik.

I've had Anchor Steam Liberty Ale the past few nights. I think I like this even more than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Certainly as much.

Boddington's Ale (#1 on draught)
Beamish
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
Castlemaine XXXX (I actually found this in the US for a year when I was in college!)
National Bohemian (Natty Bo! Fishing beer only!)
Corsendonk
Duval
Pretty much any German lager on draught.
Sam Adams Cranberry Ale (great Autumn drink, except I don;t think they make it anymore)

Beers I dislike:
Any wheatbier
Bud/Miller/Coors/ and anything they put out.

Frederick Brewing Company (in MD) makes a hemp ale that is supposed to be good.

They still make it as part of their Christmas/winter sampler. It is a Lambic! Great stuff as a single.

I've been drinking Pilsner Urquell almost exclusively the past couple weeks. Warm weather... hammock in the back yard...it hits the spot!

How many before you fall asleep in the hammock?
