Thanks DdB

Here's a Tequila tip for everyone. Never, and I mean never ever never, suck on a lime with your 100% Blue Agave unless it is served to you in the fashion as viewed in my new avatar.

I prefer to sip my Tequila. I'll usually have two tall shot glasses, one with the Tequila, the other with tomato/bloody mary mix in the second. Sip one, then the other. Just like in Mexico City and Guadalajara.

Had to pick up another bottle of Don Juan Silver the other night and couldn't keeps my eyes off of the Don Julio 1942. I think this is one of Tbirds favorite tequilas, I'll have to get one before October.

Hey Tbird, we need to get together sometime soon. I have a bottle of wine here for you, when I saw it in the wine store it was screaming "ROCKER" so I had to get it for you. But, I'm not sending it! this is for when I finally get to meet you in person.

Oh how I love a good tequila. This weekend at a bit of a wild party my cuz was pouring a couple of tequilas, Don Julio Anejo and Patron Reposado. Now, I've never been a big fan of the Patron lineup but this Reposado was tasting quite well. I usually use my Patron for margaritas only but the reposado was quite smooth with a nice bite. Of course, I did have to show most everyone at the bar the proper way to sip a quality tequila.......... a few times

Don Julio "Real" ??? I don't think I've ever heard of it or tried it. Good, huh? I going to have to give it a try.

Hey Tbird, your not coming up our way for the VC Anniversary in October? If you are, we could always do a tequila tasting on Friday night

I tried Bacardi's new entry into the premium tequila market tonight. It's called Corzo. I was skeptical enough given the Bacardi parentage, but even more so when I saw the bottle. It was admittedly elegant; rectangular and seeming more suitable to cologne than tequila, it instantly transported me from my local corner seafood joint to a chi-chi South of Market watering hole. Made my Cazadores Reposado look like a bottle of Gypsy Rose.

I chose the silver over the reposado to give the evaluation some purity. With biases firmly in place, I took a sniff. Ahh! Pura vida! Lots of citrus, sagebrush, petrol and pine. Just what I'm looking for in a good tequila. Flavors follow suit...I thought "almost too smooth", but after reflecting, my thoughts changed to "how could there be this much flavor with so little heat"

I did a little research. What I read about market positioning, what went into finding the right bottle, etc. etc. was pretty offputting and made me feel like I was being manipulated. But I also read about, from some unbiased sources, the lengths they went to produce this quality. Evidently this is the only tequila that is aged before distilling.

Unless you're caught up in the "Mo wood: Mo betta" thing, Give it a try. ($51.99 Bevmo)

Herradura Anejo!!!!! Simply the best in my book....way back (early 1980s) could only find this in Mexico - where it was about $12-15 bottle...(compared to $3-4 fro Cuervo and such)...well worth it....since then it has migrated first to Cali and now can be found even here in MD/VA/DC...ah yes - Tequilla was the perfered drink of my gang back in High School (mid/late 1970s) if you can believe it.....

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) - The 21-year-old winner of a competition to drink the most tequila died and three other contestants were gravely ill in the hospital, officials said.

Ricardo Ivan Garcia drank more than 50 shots of tequila Sunday night at Santo Domingo's Blanc, Dance and Lounge discotheque to win the prize of $330 at a Mexican night celebration.

But he was taken ill, hospitalized and died within hours, apparently from heart failure brought on by alcohol poisoning, public prosecutor Jose Hernandez Peguero said on Monday.

Three other contestants remained in serious condition in the hospital, family members said.

We visited a Tequila factory outside Puerta Vallarta and bought two bottles, one a well-aged anejo, and the other flavored with Quince. I never heard of this company. They told us they only ship to one place in San Diego.
