1986 Thomas Hardy Ale Respect is due! I'm just supping the same old stuff - Sierra Nevada and Bridgeport IPA, paired with the occasional Lagunitas IPA or Anchor Liberty. | | http://scmwine.blogspot.com - My wine blog. http://scmwine.wikispaces.com - your guide to the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley

| | This was a night that my "beer guru" and I had been planning for awhile. Though the beers listed maybe easy to get on the mainland, here, every one of those beers was suitcased in from trips he and I took. All the beers were excellent, and quite a few beers were paradigm shifts in what beer is, and can be. The first "shifter" was the 120 IPA from Dogfish Head (carried back from Vermont), how does one produce something like this with cascade hops? The follow ups, the 1986 Thomas Hardy Ale and the 2001 Sam Adams Utopia could easily be slipped into an older "sweet" wine tasting, and most would know no difference. A 20 year old beer is and was quite a treat and I am saving the bottle as a momento. | | | |

| Aloha- If I were you I'd take some 120min IPA and salt it away in the cellar for a good long while. Drinking one is like drinking a six pack. | | "It's better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, then outside the tent pissing in." -- Lyndon Johnson | |

| Hrmmmm. Might have to make the drive down!
Tonight, I had Kentucky Ale, both regular and bourbon barrel aged, and it was some pretty good stuff!

| Anyone going to be attending the beerfest at Ommagang on the 21st? I'll be at both the festival proper and the brewers party Friday night - would love to down some pints or several in the company of fellow beer/wine lovers! Let me know.

| I love Chimay Trappiste beer. Once you get past the price tag for a bottle (around $5-$10 depending on size) its really a great beer, full bodied but a slight sweetness and great body.
I also grew up on San Miguel, so I like that as well.

| | I've been going nuts on beer since hitting the Seattle area - picked up a case of Mirror Pond (Deschutes) and a case of Rogue American ($24.99 at Costco!!!). Going to make an effort NOT to drink any wine for a bit and build the fridge back up. | | | |

| | Many, many glasses of a rich, malty brown ale and a very hoppy rye-based IPA I brewed for the 10th anniversary party some good friends had yesterday. | | | |
