One of my favorites up here is Hair of the Dog "Doggy Claws", besides that, we're drinking my "Back in Town Bitter" while we wait for the Holiday beer to finish conditioning. With the weather we've been having the last couple of weeks, I'm now focusing on lagers - one in the fermenter now and another on the way next week.

The boy came home with a door prize from a party, a 3quart, 5.4 oz bottle of Heineken. That works out to 1.58 liters, so I guess about a magnum bottle. It is a special edition, sealed with a champagne cork and wire. I have no idea why anyone would want such a bottle (I'm not really much of a beer drinker) but am wondering if anyone knows anything about it. Were they made just for the trade? Does it have any value? etc.

I have so many responses for this and all of them sarcastic. It takes all kinds but the only thing I'd do with this is put it in the Christmas tree water to help it keep it's needles longer.

I just got an idea for a new verse for O Tannenbaum....

Dinwiddie- As I am not a fan of heine, this sounds like a candidate for REGIFTING.
The magnum bottles are readily available in beer distributors around here.

In the Bahamas recently I drank enough Kalik beer to float the Queen Mary. As Bahamian beers go I guess it was a pretty good way to ward off dehydration while sitting by the pool.

This post might get Ormbee to come out of the woodwork. I lived on Long Trail for a number of years living in VT. Solid beer and the Double Bag is awesome. I had their new IPA which came out last Friday and that is a fantastic beer as well. I'm trying very hard to figure out how I can get a keg of this on tap at the house.

Never had the double bag, altough I did find the long trail to be a reliable selection. I would love to try thier IPA. I was actually in Burlington on a business trip in September and got to try the smoked porter at the Pub & Brewery, and a Magic Hat #9. No Heart of Darkness on tap

The VTP&B has a great smoked porter. I don't think the LT IPA was widely released to the public according to a friend. Heart of Darkness is not always on tap based on what is available. B-town rocks I miss it up there.

Finally got a chance to try the dogfish 60 minute IPA while I was in Michigan last week. Quite good, but I believe I still prefer the lagunitas or the speakeasy.

60 min is one of my all time fav quafs

Lately I've been downing Cave Aged Hennepin from Omagang that I got at the brewery up in Cooperstown NY in November - it is an ulra-smooth Belgian style top fermented ale. While there I snagged some other brews as well - the Rare Vos - a Belgian style amber and Three Philosophers - sort of an ale/Lambic mix...quite nice...also picked up and have been drinking various Cooperstown brews (actually brewed in Milford - a town a few miles down the road) - 9 man ale, Benchwarmer Porter and others - all quite nice...and still working on my Rogue Dead Guy Ales I bought for Halloween (2 cases of it)...its very full bodied and nicely balanced but rather on the sweet side for me....

Drank me some Magic Hat Number 9 last night. It's funny that I like this beer on tap but can't stand it out of the bottle. Lucky for me I had it on tap last night.

TBIRD,

I have heard good things about this beer from others, but I can't seem to find it out here
