Good to know - I'll try the Fat Angel next.

I've also been finishing off a case of Molson Canadien leftover from a party. Pretty good beer.

I had some SPaten Oktoberfest the other night. It was quite tasty, but not significantly more so than regular Spaten.

Belgian ales have replaced my prior steady diet of West Coast style dry hopped ales, but I still get the occasional hankering for that hempy blast of Pacific hops, especially if theres plenty of body (alcohol) to go with it. Out of bottle, not much beats the El Toro "Deuce" Imperial India Pale Ale at 7.75%. I don't know what the IBU (International Bitterness Units) rating is, but it has to be 80+.

When there's a wreck on the Bay Bridge, I'll often wait it out at 21st Ammendment Brew Pub on 2nd St. Their IPA weighs in at 7.0% abv and 78 IBU.

On my last visit, they had just finished a batch of "Double Trouble Imperial IPA". This was a hop-head's dream come true at 9.7% abv and and unreal 100 IBU. Despite the high alcohol, it's full of flavor and so compelling to drink. They serve it in 13.5 oz snifter glasses. Worth going out of your way to visit.

You are correct that is my dream.

Latley I've been entirely consumed by the Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA....mmmmmmm hops

Have you tried the 90 minute @ 9%? How about the 120 minute at 21% (no typo) and 120 (!!!) IBU?

I'm actually cellaring both the 90 and 120 minute IPA's. Haven't tried them yet. But will very soon.

I had a couple Tsing Tao's last night in the bar before dinner. From what I call, it tastes the same here (Hong Kong) as it does at home (maybe a little better thanks to the expense account!).

Been drinking Pumpkin Ale from Portland Brewing lately. Interesting to say the least. Can't decide how much I like it yet.

Fred, Isn't about time for the hickory switch amber ale to be showing up on the east coast.

Yeah, your right. I'll have to keep an eye out for it . If you can get your hands on the Dogfish Head Pumpkin ale, pick some up, it's really good.

At the Oktoberfest in Shirlington this weekend.
Dogfish, Dogfish, and more Dogfish. They were pouring the pumkin, 60 & 90 minute IPA. They even ran the 90 through dry hops before serving........OH MY GOD!!!

Rouge: So sort of stout, it was ok
Shenendoah: Mountain Ale, Very good

The line for Chimay was WAY too long. I tried a few other small breweries but nothing stood out like the 90 minute IPA.

I had a Sam Adams Ocktoberfest last night at Legal Seafoods. Pretty good for this non-beer guy.

Attracted by the label touting thier 2003 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal, I brought home a 6-pack of Drake's IPA (San Leandro). At 7.2% alc. it had plenty of body and an abundance of fresh West Coast hop flavor. This is one I will buy again when I need a hop fix.

It may be time to do a side by side with some of the others like: Lagunitas, Stone, El Toro, and Marin BC.

I think Pacific Coast Brewing in Oakland has most of these on tap. When should we meet there?

I'm still at work. If I leave now, I can be there in 20 minutes.
