At a tasting with Otisabdul and BirDungy of the WS boards. Drank alongside the 2002 Gunderloch Nackenheimer Rothenberg Spätlese.

2002 Brennfleck Escherndorfer Lump Riesling Auslese (Franconia/Franken)
Bottle shape: “Bocksbeutel.” Color: golden. Body: full. Honey, lavender soap and other florals on nose; lavender soap, canned pineapples and stewed peaches on the palate. Rich and complex but perhaps lacking the necessary acidity to balance it out and make it truly age into something special. 88 points. A nice showing from an up- and- coming winery in a little known German wine region.
