Opened my first 2001 German wine tonight, with a roast pork loin. I don't have much experience with this region, however I'll give my impressions anyway:

This wine is from the Pfalz region of Germany and was purchased for $13.

Pale yellow color. Very vibrant, almost spritzy. Ripe lemon, lime, and kiwi flavors. Straightforward, and impeccably balanced between sweetness and acidity. Had a little more sweetness than I expected for a kabinett, but it was very quaffable and pleasant. This was a very enjoyable wine that was consumed in near record time by my wife and I. Drink now. 88-89P. Recommended.

Great match with the pork.

Cheers,

Otis
