| 2000 Gunderloch Riesling Spätlese Nackenheim Rothenberg (Rheinhessen) (C$21; 9% alc) -- pale clear gold Riesling; nice nose of papaya and peach; silky, open texture; ripe papaya, peach, apple flavors glide lightly but completely over the palate, and follow into a medium-length but somewhat simple finish. Better than expected, given the vintage's press. App. 87-88 points. A very nice summertime sipper out on the deck on a beautiful Vancouver afternoon.
This wine lacks the concentration and acidity for a long future, but who cares? The 2000 German Rieslings are being discounted here as the '01s are continuing to appear sporadically; I'll be taking advantage of these for sure. | | | |

| Thanks Seaquam
I'm always interested in researching wines/producers, especially German rieslings.
