This score needs some explaining, for this is a wine that really needs time to breathe and open up before revealing its true beauty and grace. Upon opening, an initial nose of dried pineapple and apricots, nutmeg, and something slightly resembling melted plastic or candle wax. On the palate, more dried pineapple, spiced pear, starfruit, kumquat, and a wierd plastic-like flavor on the finish that was really very off-putting. At this stage, I was ready to give it 84 points. However, after leaving it open for about 3 hours in the refrigerator, the synthetic smell and flavor began to fade and the wine started to become really quite lovely. In place of the plastic smell were notes of honey. On the palate, tangy lemon drop flavors emerged, more starfruit, finishing with green tea with lemon and honey. After 4 hours it was really singing, and it is at this point that I finally gave it 92 points. Is this a mini-version of the Audouze method? Maybe. All I can say is that leaving it in the fridge for 3-4 hours did wonders for the wine, and the end result is that I was very very happy with it. (92 pts.)

| Riesling like chardonnay likes to breath and evolve.
This is one of top 2 or 3 vineyards in all of Germany. I have not tasted any 88's for a while but I would think that this wine was ready to rock. | | | |
