Pale straw, medium nose of slate, honey, granny smith and dried fruits. Medium plus body, medium plus intensity and medium plus acidity. Honey and slate, layered with granny smith apples, unctuous. Balanced. 93pts.

I have to say I was a little bit sceptical when I first saw this note as it bore little relationship to the 'same' wine I'd tasted at the London VDP tasting, then when I tasted this one at a London winemerchants I thought of it... Well, Zilliken's 05's have finally arrived in London, and this is a pretty good description of the wine I have, and it's nothing like the one at the VDP event, which is disheartening to say the least. The one at the VDP tasting had considerably more power and concentration, and the acidity had a characteristic that I've tasted several times before but which I find very difficuly to describe: it was as if the acidity was completely separate from the rest of the flavour. I don't know if this description makes any sense to anyone, but it's about the only way I can put it into words. I find it very pleasant indeed. This wine (the one I bought)  has extremely well-integrated acidity that seems much softer as well.
