Light pale straw, water white with a light nose of peach, stones and earth. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium plus acidity. Lacking in focus, but balanced. 84pts.

2005 Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Rheinhessen (2/26/2007) I have to agree with the other notes on CT and say this is a very good QPR wine. Lemon peel and honey green tea on the nose. In the mouth, a bracing acidity attacks the palate before releasing its delicate lemon-lime flavors. Wet stones and almonds follow the fruit and erase any trace of sweetness. A much drier Kabinett than anything I have tasted from the 2005 vintage. (88 pts.)

Gunderloch does a good job of maintaining the style of the Jean Baptiste from year to year. In that way it is always a predictable kabinett, and while not among the absolute best, it is always very, very good and gets bonus points from me because I know what I am getting.
