  • 2003 Weingut Willi Bründlmayer Grüner Veltliner Kamptaler Terrassen - Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal (5/13/2006)
    WIML85,PURPLE85,NOWA,WS79

Tasted May 13,. 2006 in the swimming pool as part of the WinoDepot Tasting With Friends event for May 2006. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Rot Wein glass. Hay color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of citrus fruits, minerals and toasted almonds. Flavors of minerals, whetstone, a bit of lemon zest and some orange sherbert on the finish. Later on a little white peach as well. Moderate acidity. Short and simple finish. A one dimensional wine in my opinion but certainly better than the Wine Spectator rating. Drink over the short term as this one will likely not improve so no reason to hold. Based on the $19.54 per bottle I paid locally at retail I’d say this wine from a value standpoint is bordering on acceptable. (85 pts.)

'03 was not a good vintage for Brundlmayer. '02 and '04 blow it out of the park.

I would also say your price is about 15% too high. I can get the '03 and '04 (the '04 is much better) of that wine in Massachusetts for about $17 (and pay not tax) before any discounts.

Bully for you. You'd be lucky to get ANY GruVe down here, more or less for under $20.00 a bottle.
