Pale straw with green highlights. Medium nose of that Prum(resting on the lees) funk/petrol, slate, green apples, peaches and cinnamon. Medium body, medium plus intensity, medium plus acidity. Slate, apples and not much more. Balanced, though disappointing, hopefully closed down, though I haven't heard much about the Z-S like the Wehlenuhr-Sonnenur. 90pts.

JasonH, is it sweet bordering on the dessert wine level or still relatively food friendly?

I wonder why Z-S is not as widely distributed as W-S or B-J-S, although it is one of the celebrated sonnenuhr vineyards. I just got 8 bottles of the same one you noted above. Will post TN soon.

Phyll,

It was food friendly, not dessert sweetness.

Too soon. Too soon. Top 2001s (and any Prum is a top wine) are closed shut.

There are plenty of Zeltinger Sonnenuhr examples that put it on a par with the more famous Wehlener Sonnenuhr. In fact I prefer it in the right hands (e.g. Selbach-Oster).

In that case, TN will be posted in 10 years. Watch this space!

I figured as much. I meant though that you can find plenty of information, tasting notes etc on Prum W-S Auslese, but hardly any info on the Z-S Auslese.

The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr is a much smaller production, and it tends (until 2003) to be released late. So it usually misses the review and such.

I'm afraid to touch any 2001's. I'm drinking mainly 2002's now. Somehow the 2001 Darting DN auslese somehow has been great every time I've had it (and I've had it at least every other month for the past 3 years).

I have to say that I've never had a Prum ZS - had a lot of S-O ZS. Should be pretty good when the time is right.
