| 2000 Peter Schandl Pinot Blanc. Rust/Neusiedlersee, Austria. 13.5% alcohol. $15.
This wine is labeled trocken but has a touch of sweetness on the palate despite the winery’s claim. A strong and powerful nose of honeysuckle, hazelnuts, apricot, and spice. The wine has lots of fruit with mineral overtones. Surprisingly viscous in the mouth with a well-balanced acid/sugar ratio. Tastes delightful now and goes great with Asian cuisine particularly Vietnamese and Thai. Not a wimpy wine by any means. I bought a case for my personal cellar. 90 points. Drink now to the end of 2003.
