| I got to taste a little of this on Saturday. I liked it so much I bought the leftover unopened bottle from the tasting & popped it last night.
Pale straw color. Immediate notes of brown spice, stone, honey and oranges. With a little air the fruit comes forward more, and eventually takes center stage with the minerals. On the palate this is broad and rich, much in the way a Rhone white fills the palate, but the fruit flavors just push right through (orange, peach) and everything finishes up with minerals and vanilla! (Go figure...there's no wood here) Amazing trocken with fantastic balance. Certainly drinking well now, but I see no reason it can't hold for another several years. The brown spice & honey elements are typical of the site, and not of any serious maturation in the wine.

| Rieslingfan,
I have one bottle of:
2001 August Kesseler Rudesheimer Berg Schlossberg Spatlese from the Rheingau. Is my bottle the same as the one mentioned in your TN? I was planning on waiting several years to open mine. If you do not mind me asking what price did you buy yours for? Mine was a gift but I know the person that gave it to me, payed a lot for it. Thx.

| Two different wines.
I had the dry version. Yours is the non dry version.
You should definitely hold your bottle for a few years.
I didn't pay for mine at normal retail, so pricing would be meaningless.

| | I don't buy Kesseler's but I would think that this is a $25 wine. | | | |
