Pale straw yellow with nose of flowers, apricot, honeysuckle, citrus, honey, pear and minerals. Medium bodied with honey, pear and minerals on the palate. Good residual sugar but balanced nicely by the acidity.

Never tried this, but have had a lot of the auslese which I like a lot. I've always wondered what Badstube means in German. I used to think that it means bathtub, but obviously my German isn't too good.

It's "Bath House." There were some "Roman" style bath houses near there way back when.

No. That would be "Bad-tube."

Thanks. One of my favorite 1971's was a Bernkasteller Badstube (I think it was a Dr. Thanisch, which was really expensive then) and I've always wondered what it meant. This makes sense. When we were spending a few days on the Mosel, we spent a night in Trier which is one of the better preserved Roman cities close to where the Mosel starts. Staying a night on the Mosel (at a hotel in the Middle Mosel recommended by J. Selbach) was one of the most enjoyable times I've ever had. Just driving along the Mosel and seeing the vineyards (45 degree slope to the river) and seeing the huge block letters (smaller than the Hollywood sign) with the famous vineyard names was amazing.
