| Had this Saturday night at Cafe Boulud.
While I have some of this, I decided to try this as it was one of the better deals on the wine list and the majority 5 of us were ordering fish dishes for main courses primarily.
Unassuming sun yellow color. No shpritz as typical of some of Prum's wines.
Granny Smith apples, pears , and lime, with sharp but not overwhelming acid, staying focused and steady throughout a long delicious finish. What a clean pure example of riesling. I drank my friend's 2nd glass the minute she said she was the designated driver. Liked this better than the Auslese. 95 pts.

| I tried a bottle of this 2 weeks ago basis a recommendation from GATC. I was blown away. I went back and bought a case -- the first case of wine I've ever bought. | | | |

| I had a bottle of this a few weeks ago at the last Denver tasting. Unfortunately, I lost my tasting notes from that night, and my tasting notes book for the year.
However, I really enjoyed this, and have been on the lookout ever since. Now, I know what the raves about the 2001 vintage are all about.

| What I am about to tell you is the absolute truth, unbelievable as it sounds. We've had this wine 5 times in the last 23 days. It is spectacular, by far the best Spatlese I've ever had. Unlike Dr. T, however, I found all five bottles had a little "shpritz" in them. I have six bottles left and they are calling me. I believe I have the opportunity to buy some more, but I'm sure it will be far more expensive than the store I cleaned out of this wine previously. With a discount, I paid $18 a bottle for this. WS gave this 96 points and listed the price at $37. Parker's numbers were 94 and $30. I urge you to seek this wine out and stock up. | | | |

I too, was surprised at not noticing any bubbly shpritz. However, the wine was poured into a serving decanter from bottle, in my presence, and I don't remember the initial taste from bottle well. Didn't matter. There was plenty of acid to tickle the fruit. Splendid riesling. So pure and focussed an example true to the varietal.

| TJ, if you don't, I'll save a bottle for the next time we get together. I prefer these wines young. I'm not looking for complexity. I'm looking for fruit, sweetness, and acidity, and this wine is loaded. This is coming from someone who usually only buys BAs, TBAs, and Eisweins from Germany. | | | |

| Okay, this one the spatlese flight again at the BAWE tasting yesterday. It also won the first time I served it in December. Although I tend to favor the Christoffel Urziger Wurzgarten and the Monchhof Urziger Wurzgarten whenever I drink these, the Prum always wins when the best of the 2001 spatlesen are tasted blind. But the fact that the Christoffel and Monchhof ties for 2nd and easily beat out 2 Donnhoff's confirms what I have been saying. | | | |

| GATC, I haven't had one in a few months. How would you compare this wine now to the way it was about 4 months ago? | | | |

| The JJ Prum was extremely nice, but remember one of the two Donnhoff's was corked It was extremely generous of you to open all the wines for us. It was a great tasting and with the exception of the corked Donnhoff all the Rieslings showed very well. I never would have guessed that the 1969 Chappelet was 34 years old. It looked and tasted like a ten year old wine. | | | |

| Board-O, I voted it 4th in the flight in December and 1st in the flight yesterday. Based on that, I guess it is doing well. We did drink the spatlesen flight a little warm, so all of the wines opened up pretty well IMO. I've been finding the wines showing some signs of shutting down, but air time and warming them up seem to get most of them showing well. All of the auslesen were amazing IMO.
I really enjoyed the riesling flights yesterday. The heck with aging them. I'm drinking them as fast as I can. Of course, with the 5 cases I bought last week, I still have around 50 cases, so I can do that. I'm going to try and get 10+ cases of the Darting since everyone keeps asking me for them. I hope they still have them.

| Danke sehr. My feeling at last tasting is that the wine might be shutting down, but just a little at that point. | | | |
