No pro ratings that I could find; 93 WT

I mentioned to Tmortimer that I had not had an aged German Riesling and he gifted us with this beauty. Please bear with me on the name as the bottle is so hard to read that I’m not sure I have the correct name of the wine.

It was a deep gold in color with apricot and apples on the nose. It was reminiscent of great Sauterne without the viscosity. The structure was huge and complex with minerals coming in the finish along with the acidity. A WOW wine and especially wonderful with the classic paring of pork chops and apples.

If my Germans taste this good in a few years I may be able to keep them in the off-site storage. Thank you TM!

I edited the post to add a 93 for points. It may have actually been higher but I haven't had enough of these to know better.

I like your comparison to Sauternes. Good rieslings remind me of the soft drink (or cardonated fruit drink) Clearly Canadian (I think that is the name). The drink is clear and thin, but is packed with so much flavor and character that it seems unreal. The carbonation gives is an edge (like the acidity in a good riesling). After I have a good riesling, the Sauterne seems cloying to me.
