| | Popped open at DoktaP's for the HDW offline. Pale yellow colour. Aromas of honey, lychee, lemon zest, white peach, spice, and tangerine. Medium-full bodied, medium sweetness, and good acidity. Excellent balance. Peaches, honey, spice, and white flowers on the palate. Long finish, ~45-50s. Lip-smacking good. 94 points (08/05/2004). | | | |

| | I ended up buying two bottles of the Spatlese version of this wine about two weeks ago. I can't wait, this stuff literally makes me salivate at the mere thought of supping on it. | | | |

| There were a couple bottles left in the province (or so LCBO inventory said). I tried to get them shipped from that store to my local in Toronto - turns out someone did the same thing two days ago, and that's the last of the 2001 vintage here.

| Fear not. The 2002 version of the auslese is also excellent & if I know Fritz Hasselbach (owner/winemaker) the '03 will be just fantastic.
Gunderloch is incredibly reliable.

| | There are still Gunderloch Spatlese and Kabinett around, but I wanted to Auslese. Oh well ... I'll wait for the 2002 Auslese as you suggested. Thanks! | | | |

| Good move, futronic, at least for '02.
Base on my tasting w the Chicago Mafia, the '02 Spatlese is noticeably less delicious than the Auslese

| | Pale yellow colour with green tinges. Aromas of honey, peach, lanolin, lychee, and a little petrol. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with replays from nose and white flowers. Great acidity, but surprisingly evolved at this stage. Long finish, 50s, with honey and lychee notes. 93 points (07/24/2005). | | | |

| Six reasons why I like this wine.
1) It's delicious
2) It's natural (not dosed, otherwise the alcohol wouldn't be below 9%)
3) Unwooded (aromas come entirely from the grapes)
4) Low in alcohol 5) Can be cellared for many years to come
6) Goes well with spicy Asian Perhaps we should not promote German riesling too much because if it regains its popularity, prices will soar.

I agree. However, if it didn't gain in enduring popularity after the 2001 and 2002 vintages, it probably isn't going to happen. YAY! I selfishly enjoy getting the "pick of the litter" on these wines without having to pay top dollar or to fight trophy hunters. | | Cheers, y'all
