| Posted By rjs3 on 11/02/2007 12:06 PM Eric - I'm fascinated by Everest. Please let us know how it is. Bought Clapton's book. Will try to set aside time to read it.
rjs, I just finished it (been rather busy lately) - really great read, and really interesting to get another, very personal view of the 1996 tragedy that Krakauer wrote of in "Into Thin Air". Chilling stuff.

| | Sacred and Profane by Faye Kellerman. An interesting crime thriller where some of the characters are orthodox (Torah) Jews. You get to learn a lot about the rituals and lives of those characters. Actually, her fist book, The Ritual Bath, did a good job of intermixing these two themes. This book, while interesting, was more like two separate stories mixed together in one book. | | | |

| Eric - Discovery Channel had an all-day marathon of the 2007 Everest trip. I think it now resumes on Tues. nites at 10pm. This is where David Tait tries to double traverse Everest. They left off with him reaching the summit and before going down the south face.
The photography is amazing. | | | |

Looks like it's actually the CellarTracker for readers. I finally got around to looking at that site. Unless I did something wrong it is quite different than CT. It's database of existing books - at least if you start with Author or Title - is pathetic. CT's db is pretty complete, this is only comparable if you start with the ISBN number or it is a currently selling book, otherwise you are out of luck. Even with currently available books, you have to look at 10 at a time. (I put in John Sandford and got 445 results, which I have to look at 10 at a time).
I would have loved a real CT for books (I keep a list of SF books I have read so that I don't get fooled by new covers). I think my expectations were too high.

Don't all North American Pinots come from the Santa Rita Hills?

Bob-- The site is still quite young and the methods for searching for books is still kind of crude, especially before pre-ISBN use books. But they give you the ability to also create books from scratch and enter them manually. You can also scan and upload exact book covers if you do not see your book listed there.
Here's my profile.
Give it another shot. Once you enter even just 10-20 books, you can scan around and look at other folks who have read your books and see what else someone of similar tastes might like, too, etc etc, etc.
Besides, I am crazing some really good sci-fi and I'd love to see what you like and suggest to give a go for reading.

It's addictive to enter books. I also like the Suggestions. I've used that to enter books I have instead of entering them all at once.
