I just read "Jar City" and "Silence of the Grave" by Arnaldur Indridason. Mysteries set in Iceland. Like "The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency" does for Botswana, these books give you a real flavor for life in Reykjavik.

Habanos: The Story of the Havana Cigar by Nancy Stout.

Great writing about cigar production, growers, international trade, and the pride workers feel.

Oh, and while away I read john Krakauer's "Into the Wild" - well written book, even if the author seemingly has an agenda of his own. Sad, crazy, fascinating story.

With all this Potter mania, I've decided to see what the fuss is all about and have started the first volume, the Sorcerers's stone.

I agree - very well written books.

Somehow I missed the Vince Flynn books, so I am now in the process of devouring them.

Ender's Game. I think that Bob might have recommended this to me. Now I'm on The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson. Great read so far.

Crossing to Safety

No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

Dogs of Babel

All three very good and very different.
