| $1800 came from Uncle Sam today! Quite stimulating. Too bad it's going towards past-spending, in a foreign country no less | | | |

| I'm pretty sure you won't receive the rebate unless you've filed... | | | |

Who Is Eligible for a Tax Rebate? The IRS will determine who qualifies based on 2007 tax returns, calculate payments, and then issue rebate checks automatically. The U.S. Treasury Department Office of Public Affairs provided examples on its website of how the Economic Growth Act of 2008 will benefit individuals. Basically, an individual can expect to receive a tax rebate check equal to the amount of their 2007 tax liability, with a maximum payment of $600 per person (which translates into $1,200 for married taxpayers). Those earning over $75,000 (or $150,000 for married filing jointly) can expect a reduced payment based on how much their income exceeded those limits. Taxpayers are eligible to receive $300 per child who qualifies for the child tax credit.

| These kids were good for something after all!!! FWIW, I believe that people who file electronically get the money first, then it gets sent out in waves to the rest over the next month or two. | | | |

| I'm confused. I'm not entitled to a rebate, but I just received a payment for $300 plus a small amount of interest. It's either for something else (and it arrived with no explanation), or they hired some crappy programmers.

I thought I had read that it was based upon the last 2 digit's of your social...the lower the number the faster the rebate i.e. "10" before "20."
Incidentally, we received our rebate today.

None for me either. Except I phrase it as, I pay way too much in federal income taxes to get the stimulus payment. | | | |
