| One area I have NEVER spent an ounce of time researching is nice dress shoes for men. I usually go to DSW and find a pair that looks nice. It's time to upgrade, but I just don't know where to turn anymore. No one can help me.Â
Can a few people chime in with some recommendations on nice dress shoes to wear with slacks and/or business casual dress?
Where does Cole Haan fall on the list? I've heard of them but know nothing of where they "rank".Â
I know Bruno Magli's because of OJ.
That's about it!
Thanks for your help. | | |

| Is this for real? Assuming so - my favorite shoes are from Sandro Moscoloni of Spain - the Comfort line -
Other than these, I loved my old pair of Ballys. Also oxfords from English shoe makers can be excellent - Churchs and I forgot the name of of the company that makes my other pair - but they are from England.

| Of course it's for real. I can't find any other sources with good info that aren't trying to sell me something! This board always seems to do a pretty good job of giving feedback on a variety of topics. If anyone has any good sources, please let me know! | | | |

| When I wore suits on a daily basis, I use to buy for style. As a result, I use to buy (and still have some but hardly ever wear) designer shoes such as Ferragamo, Bally, Cole-Haan, Magli, Kenneth Cole etc. However, I always found most of these to be uncomfortable. On a business trip to Germany about 8 years ago, I noticed that men there were primarily wearing Ecco or Mephisto type shoes. I thought, hey, why not?
So now, when I have to wear dress shoes, I wear Ecco or a pair of Johnson Murphy's. Either of these I can walk or stand on all day.
Not sure where they rank on the What's Hot / What's Not list. Probably What's Not. | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"

| For the record, I am NOT a man. However, I deal with the same issues. I don't wear stilletos (sp?) to work. I found it quite a task to find comfortable dress shoes. But I was fortunate to find a brand called Birkenstock. They have a company called "Footprints" that they make shoes under. I think they are German based. The toe box are wider in some shoes which is common with German shoes. My loafers are very comfortable that I can walk/stand in them all day. The only bad things about them is that they were almost $200 a pair. | | | |

I use to have a girlfriend who said that women only wore stilletos to and from the limousine. Or maybe was it just in the bedroom? Can't remember Ditto Nordstrom for men's shoes. It's also the best bargain for a shoe shine. They charge something like $2.50. | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"

| Actually,  All of my dress shoes are Bruno Magli simply because I find them more comfortable than the other brands.  If you don't need to go super-snazzy, and can shell out the big bucks, NOTHING is as comfy as Mephistos. I wear their sandals and casual shoes and nothing even comes close, for my feet, anyway.  Also, far less expensive and really comfortable, for me, and pretty stylin' are Geox.  You mentioned Cole Haans. Those are nice. So are SOO many other brands. I would just find a price range you are comfortable with and then find shoes that fit well and look good. We are guys. No one asks us who makes out shoes!   | | I can't listen to that much Wagner. | Nordstrom is a great store for buying shoes. Online as well as they have free shipping fairly frequently. Cole Haan is a good brand that are very well-made for reasonable prices - compared to other high-end brands.  Also a dark horse here that I know my husband likes a lot - very comfortable in range from dressy to casual   Donald Pliner   To break the bank something like Tod's. There are so many more very expensive lines but they probably aren't necessary unless you are in a financial and/or very formal occupation. Or you enjoy $1200-$2000 shoes.   | | | |

| Ok - just seemed weird. The Sandros are almost as comfortable as Eccos or Mephistos but are actually legit. dress shoes. I wear them to Court and depos. all the time - they rock -
I have always foudn Bruno Magli shoes very uncomfortable (uh oh Whiner and I are disagreeing for once) - To follow up Whiner - as Red says in The Shawshank Redemption - "How often do you notice another man's shoes"?
Just go shopping, try stuff on and see what feels the most comfortable for you - They basically all look the same.

My vote is for Allan Edmunds. Great shoes, they last a long time, and when they're worn out, you can send them back and for $99 they do a full refurbish treatment and you have new shoes again! Already broken in!

Several times I've posted and it never appears. I think what happens is that someone is posting at the same time and one of the posters gets bumped. | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"

| My husband finds most shoes uncomfortable and also buys Alan Edmunds. He's a 10.5 D. My 14-yr. is on his way there as well - size 9 EE.
I also vote for Nordstroms. They have the best customer service and selection of shoes in lots of different price ranges.

| Nordstroms rocks! They have an unbelieveable return policy. I took a pair of shoes back that I had worn 4 times over a year that just were not comfortable and they took them back with a smile. | | | |

| Nordstroms was originally a shoe store. In addition to having great customer service overall, they've always tried to be a great shoe store.
