We went to see Mamma Mia with some friends this weekend. If anyone out there knows ABBA Music, I recommend this highly. Great, fun show. Awesome. They do a great job telling the story set to the music. Had a Great Time. Go see it. Worth the wait & the $$$ (if you like these things).

I will post the Wine TNs that we ordered during the Dinner after the Show.

P.S.: What are some of your favorite Broadway Shows? I would love to hear some your guys' favorite show(s). Here are mine (in order):

Phantom (of course).
Les Mis.
Miss Saigon.
Mamma Mia.
Beauty & The Beast.
The Lion King.
I Love You, You Are Perfect, Now Change.
Aida.
Cabaret.

I used to go all the time (before Baby). My favorites included:

Miss Saigon
Art
Phantom
Les Miserables
The Dinner Party (w/ John Ritter)

I didn't care for Chicago too much. I really want to see the Lion King.

The Lion King is Great. But, believe it or Not, I liked Beauty & The Beast more. But, Lion King is amazing. Amazing what they did with that stage. These days it is easier to get tickets to that Show. I waited over a year (back in the good ol' days).

I'd love to see Beauty and the Beast now that Jamie-Lynn Sigler (aka Meadown Soprano) is in it!

She's a hottie!

Did not see most of those. I wanted to go see "Jeckyl and Hyde", but friends said that it was Not that good.

"Producers" is on my list.

Everyone has some excellent choices! Ive also seen:
Phantom
Beauty & the Beast (and wouldn't mind seeing it again with Jamie Lynn)
Lion King twice! Both times exciting..even in the nose bleed section!
Carousel (many years ago was great)
Les Mis was also good, except i think i enjoyed it more cause the tickets I got were for free

A good off broadway shows that i've seen were Stomp and de la Guarda....both really kool.

Wish I had time to see more....sounds cheesie but i wanna see Rent with Joey Fatone lol

Altime favorite Broadway show is ...

Jesus Christ Superstar (only w/ origingal motion picture cast)

Others that are excellent:

Lion King
Rent (original cast, the ones now are lame.)
The Wiz (remember that one)
Sexaholics (John Leguizamo)
The Scarlett Pimpernel

Love broadway, don't go much anymore.

Welcome. So, you are a friend of Revlis'. If it is true what people say that, you judge a person by the company they keep, then...1 day will be glad to meet you (may be 1 of our famous NJ-Wine/Dinner Tasting). Cool.

Note: I like your profile notes (on Revlis & Wine preferences). Funny.

I do Not know who "Jamie Lynn" is. I never watched that Sapronos-show. I know, I am 1 of the few on this planet.

My wife saw "Rent". Cannot remember her thoughts on it.

Jeckyl and Hyde was a fantastic musical but very dark and gothic. Those that want amusement and no murder were not very happy. Those like myself really loved it however.

Raw Reds -

Agree with you on the music aspect of Jeckyl and Hyde...the best I've heard at Broadway show. The most powerful scene in the show is near the end when Jeckyl alternates between himself and his alter-ego at such a rapid pace...incredible scene!

LCC -

I've seen (on Broadway)

Phantom
Les Mis (twice)
Ragtime (twice)
Jeckyl and Hyde
Beauty and the Beast
City of Angels

I saw A Christmas Carol one year at the Garden and then the Radio City Christmas Spectacular about 4 times.

I love the City around the holidays!

...If you are a fan of ABBA Music, Mamma Mia is a MUST. Wonderful show...Tickets are hard to get, but worth it.

Les Mis had me going a few times during the show. It grabs your heart. So emotional. Held myself back a few times...

jb, I am with you on the Jesus Christ Superstar thought. Totally.

I actually enjoyed Chicago quite a bit.

Now, for non-"show"s..

Anyone ever been up to the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake (while visiting those lovely Canadian wineries)???

OMG!!! Finally a topic that I can speak to with some degree of knowledge. I have a BFA in Acting and Directing and am the Artistic/Technical Director for a large church in California. I have been involved in theatre as long as I can remember. I am directing MY FAIR LADY as we speak. If anyone is going to be in Northern California in the month of February, I will get you comps to come see my show.

My favorite shows in order:
1.) Jesus Christ Superstar
2.) Les Miserables
3.) Big River
4.) Into the Woods
5.) Phantom
6.) Joseph...Dreamcoat
7.) Guys and Dolls
8.) Music Man
9.) The Scarlet Pimpernel
10.) Sunset Blvd.

I LOVE to talk about theatre. I met my wife doing theatre. GREAT THREAD!!!

I love it also. And, related type stuff. Broadway RULES!!!

January: Tickets to see "Carmen" (Opera). My 1st Opera. Do NOT know what to expect, to be honest. Tickets are EXPENSIVE & hard to come by (Carmen specifically). Sells out in a day or 2. It will be in Italian with English-translation.

Any opinions? Thought? Recommendations? Advice?...

Opera can be fun. I'd love to see the Opera in Italy someplace. Hmmmm.

My first opera experience was seeing Pagliacchi (sp?) with Placido Domingo. Great stuff.

Of course, it was the opening night of the opera season a few years ago and I did not know this. So, ignoring other details of the story, we were HUGELY underdressed. Got to see Hillary Clinton and Baba WaWa, though

The reason that I picked "Carmen" as my 1st Opera is that I feel a little intimidated & "overmatched" (in a way).

Out of place...

So, @ least with Carmen (I know the Story, I know/like the Music)...and, will feel "comfortable" @ the show. If I like it, I intend to hit more of these.

Expecting a LOT from this show...to be honest...

If anyone is interested, I may be able to get 1/2-price tickets to Broadway Shows (in NYC). Let me know the show. And, I will find out.

Actually, I'm not a Broadway show fan, but I have enjoyed:

Les Mis (London production)
Mamma Mia
Oliver (London production)
Into the Woods

Interestingly, I am not a ALW fan even though some of his songs are quite good. I thought Rent (NY production) was awful and an insult to La Boheme.
