| Has anyone tried the '04 version of this chard yet? I here it is quite thick and unctious. Thanks for any TN's. I have seen this advertised for $38. Anyone seen a better price?

I just noticed a company in Southhampton has it for $35. | | | |

| Hi there Italian Wino,
I'm not a huge follower of Chardonnay,
but I do drink enough of them to know what I like.......and I really
enjoyed this wine. Hopefully my TN will help you out. I tasted it at a
tasting event in New Orleans weekend before last, and should get to
taste it again next month at another tasting down there.
2004
Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay -- Color is golden with hints of
buttery
yellow. The nose is overflowing with honey, vanilla, lemon creme, green
apple, fresh peaches, and a hint of roasted figs. The wine to has a
rich, full body,
with very pure and clean flavors. Acidity is beautifully crisp with
bright Granny Smith apple flavors predominating. On the palate, honey,
almonds, lemon creme, apple, and Anjou pear stand out. Oak is
noticable, but seems to be held in check. The wine has a creamy smooth
texture ( yes, I would say unctuous ) which
complimented the light, and thankfully not overwhelming, flavors of
butter and heavy cream, and is also balanced nicely by the tart
acidity. I really liked this. JT - 91-92 points
I
haven't run out an bought any bottles, yet, but I know a store that
carries and and I will get a bottle in the near future. Hope thats what
you wanted to hear!!
Ciao!

| Thanks for the info. I think the 2002 is the best they have ever made and I look forward to trying the '04.  Due to changes in ownership to LVMH their have been some staffing changes recently at Newton and I hope the quality does not suffer in the long run.Â
