| I don't know about that David. For $500 you could find a few phenomenal Grand Cru Burgundy.
Anyway I would like to see if anyone has some recent experience with the Elizabeth. | | | |

I paid less than that for that 1985 DRC which rolled your socks up and down so it is entirely possible to get some great Burgundy and possibly end up with some cash in your pocket. You should also be able to pick up some 1990 Leroy Vosne Romanee Les Beauxmonts for less than that (a truely stunning wine BTW). | | | |

You buy the '85 DRC for $500 and I'll double your money! You know you got that bottle out of the back of someone's trunk.
And yes, absolutely! You can buy some pretty fine Burgundy for that $500 BUT...
The Elizabeth is a mighty fine wine too.

| I don't think I'd flip it unless I had a decent number of them. It's supposed to be a phenomenal bottle of wine (hoping to finally get one in the spring after fencing the Kistler order across the west coast for 6 mailers) and I really don't see a great return on effort for selling one or two bottles when you consider the quality of what you're selling. Even at $357 net, you paid $90 + shipping, so you're looking at a $260 profit; I try not to look at my wine as a sunk cost unless I'm talking to the wife...
My advice? Keep the bottle and move the poker game a little farther south next time | | | |

| This wine is made from a vineyard that I can see from the back porch. The land was orginally owned by Cam Theriot. He sold it to the Dutton family who leased it to Steve Kistler. Kistler made all the farming decisions. Kistler gave up the lease and property was sold. I believe the sale was after the 2004 vintage. I understand that the fruit will go to Red Car in the future. Mountainman did bring a bottle to dinner and it was stunning.

If someone wants to sell a bottle for a good profit because otherwise they can't afford shoes for their kid and are tired of painting the kid's feet black and lacing up their toes...
sell it!
But if what one wants is to trade one "fantastic" night of pleasure for five just "good" nights of pleasure...
that is something I wouldn't do. I'd rather abstain for four nights so that on the fifth night it will be something that I will remember maybe forever.
It's that old trite saying... Life's too short to drink bad wine.

I am a Burgundy fanatic and my tastes run more towards Vosne Romanee than Sonoma Coast these days. So I would rather have 3 bottles of Arnoux Vosne Romanee Suchots than 1 bottle of Elizabeth. But that's just me. To each his own. No dis of Kistler. I've been on the list since 2000. Love the wines.
Also, as someone who is not a fan of Red Car, I shudder to think what the grapes of the Elizabeth will one day become.
