i was wondering if someone could give me a quick drinking window for all 6 of the 2002 neal svd's. i wimped out and only bought 1 6 pack and i want to try and catch them at the right time. i know at this stage this will be hard to do, but if anyone can get me close that would be cool.

Why don't you email PYang at Neal? With his history of being the 'TJ of Neal Vineyards', I'm sure he could help you out with some recommended drinking windows.

I did a very minor little write-up of the SVD release party on the post event fun board.

I tried all six bottles last week. I won't be able to give you a drinking window. Calling Pyang is a good suggestion.

But if you want to open one soon, I think the one lane bridge is the most accessible at this point.

In talking with the vineyard owners, they were recommending several years before trying a bottle.

Clearly, pyang should take that as a serious compliment!

And Ant, I am surprised at you! Only buying a single 6-pack?! Are you ill? You not feeling 100%?

It's funny, Ant. I know what you mean. Your cellar is ten times as big and as good as mine, but we have the same problem -- you want more and have no place to put it.

tj,

you are exactly right. right now if i have easy access to about 300 of my 1000 or so bottles. most are crated and some others are blocked by crates that are blocked by crates. just the other day i was thinking how nice it would be to pop a 98 dalla valle but the thought of getting out pushed me to something else

Ant,

If you want to get in touch with pyang and don't have his info let me know. Actually, there are several people here who could put you in touch with him, and I'm sure he'd be happy to help and would be completely honest.

Despit my low level of proper storage, I've done the best I can. I tend to think I know where most everything is, but sometimes I'm totally wrong. This is where Cellartracker comes in and saves the day (usually).

funny you say that. it is true that cellartracker tells me what i have i still never took the time to log what crate it is in. i have the crates marked with a sharpie, but someoff them are turned so i can't read them. one day i am going to label each crate with a number then use the number to track them via cellartracker. i was staring at 4 crates (48 bottles full) last night and scratching my head as to what was in them

tj,

i doesn't matter if i have 5k bottles of wine i would never get a barcode scanner to track them. seems to take a bit of the fun out of it imo. barcodes take away from the experience and makes it seem to walmart or grocery store like. a bit to sterile for my tastes.

I suppose, Ant. But it sure would make inventorying the wine that much easier. The last thing I'd want to have happen to me is to 'lose' a bottle and miss drinking it when it was its best just cos I didn't know where it was or that I still had it.

TJ... I have 8 times the number of bottles you have, and I know where every bottle is. Don't need no stinking barcodes!!
