Ah...thanks Jones.

TJ: The JUMP TO feature was located at the bottom of each page and would allow you to jump around without having to go back to the MAIN PAGE.

Ok, well there are some valid things here... I'll see if there are plans for fixing/changing these.

Anyhow, just so everyone knows the huge amount of things that were done to this version (besides what's listed above) here is a list. I'm only listing user appropriate additions/fixes... not ones that only an administrator or moderator would care about.

You probably won't even read the list... but again, just wanted everyone to be aware of the enormity of the update.

A new calendar system that can be used for showing public/private events and birthdays. This is quite a large feature and touches many aspects of the board and it's use.

Added in an option when viewing a user's profile to ignore a user. Posts from ignored users will still be shown to preserve the flow of a conversation, however the body of ignored user's posts will be set to "You are ignoring this user."

Added a new option to allow users to select from a predefined set of avatars for their picture.

Added an option when creating/editing a forum to select an image to be displayed next to the forum on the main page.

More work on efficiency. Added a configurable caching system to cache some things that don't change that often. At this point, that includes total # of users, newest user and today's birthdays. This cuts off 3 queries from the main page when used. More caching will be added with future versions.

Polls are entirely rewritten. Polls now can have multiple questions, a start and end time.

Fixed a bug that would appear when editing user profiles with that had colors in their signatures.

Fixed a bug with multiple categories.
Fixed a bug with the code tag not working.
Fixed a sort/page bug with the showmembers script.
Fixed a bug in showprofile when users had a https address for their homepage.
Fixed a bug that was preventing the donotifymod emails from going out properly.
Fixed a bug with the multiple email address check and the changebasic.php script.
Fixed a bug with doassignmod.php not giving the confirmation list of forums the user has been assigned to.
Fixed a bug with a few scripts linking to the old style faqs.
Fixed a bug with users sometimes being directed to pages with no posts.
Fixed a bug with some of the extra profile files not escaping quotes properly when editing profiles.
Fixed a bug with the showmembers.php script not handling homepages with https correctly.
Fixed a problem with the confirmation screen when approving new users.
Fixed a template bug in the myhome.tmpl.
Fixed admin/sendemail.php (english) language typo.
Fixed logic bug in viewboard/createboard.php.
Removed extra get_input from ubbthreads.php.
Fixed a missing "=" in banuser.php, all languages.
Fixed missing signature separator in addpost.php
Fixed postlist php XHTML compatibility.
Updated the altertable-demo, the COPPA flag and mailertable were missing.
Fixed a bug in the perl cron scipts that would strip linefeeds from HTML email.
Fixed the httpd header to properly set the charset as defined in generic.php.
Fixed big5 to the proper charset header.
Changed to a more tolerant valid email address regex to allow for two and four letter TLD (.cc for example).
Changed the mailer engine for the perl based cron scripts to a simplified verion of the UBB.classic mailer.
Changed the mass email options on registration.
Added opt out link to the bottom of all mass emails sent by the board.
Added in the last poster for each thread when viewing the postlist screen.
Added a modification of JustDave's "My Cookies" modification, with a template file, which allows users to delete all cookies from a UBB.threads site.
Modified the banuser function so a user cannot login at all when they are banned.
Modified showflat/showthreaded so the Board= portion isn't needed when linking to a post. This will keep bookmarks or links to posts that have been moved from breaking.
Updated the COPPA registration and handling.
Added the ability to add a custom charset or text direction for a language via the control panel.
Fixed a bug with linebreaks getting messed up when editing a post under Mac OS 9.
Fixed a SQL error when deleting all traces of a user.
Fixed a sorting bug when viewing the address book.
Fixed a SQL error in addons/ubbttopthreads.php
Fixed a problem with forums not showing on main page when deleting all posts from a user or deleting a user.
Fixed a problem with forums not showing on main page on certain occasions when cron/doexpire is run.
Fixed a bug that would pop up if a post was moved while a user was replying to it.
Fixed a problem with the mass mailer sending out duplicates on some servers.
Fixed a bug that caused the year a user registered not to show.
Fixed a bug with the instant ubbcode when previewing a reply to a private message.
Fixed a bug with the userlist not showing all users properly.
Fixed a bug that was causing the post icon to not show up on the main forum listing.
Fixed a bug when leaving a pointer behind on a moved post made by an anonymous user.
Added in a check to see if a thread is locked before allowing a user to edit their post.
Added in Picture size checks into the printthread script.
Made some changes to showflat to add back in the [Re: Username] next to the subject.
Combined the welcome email in the adduser language file into 1 string instead of 3 seperate strings.
Made some changes to deletepost.php, so when deleting the last post in a thread the last poster would update properly for that thread on the postlist screen.
Moved all text in the administration control panel into language files.
Added ability to edit the language files through the admin section.
Added an option into the admin section to activate/deactivate languages. This allows for easy addition/removal of languages without the need to edit any code or templates.
Added an option to the mass mailer to send out emails one at a time on servers where Bcc mailing does not work.
Added in the last poster for each thread when viewing the postlist screen.
Added a modification of JustDave's "My Cookies" hack, with a template file. This allows users to delete all cookies from a UBB.threads site.
Modified showflat/showthreaded so the Board= portion isn't needed when linking to a post. This will keep bookmarks or links to posts that have been moved from breaking.

Let me get this straight. Everybody can automatically start ignoring my posts instead of having to do it the old fashioned way?

I was just gonna post about the ignore feature as a 'found' item.

Boy this would be a great feature on more 'rough and rowdy' message boards. I am not talking about anyone in particular, honest. Really.

Rev, fantastic news. You are The Man!

One question though, is there a way to make the links at the top (Main Index, Search, My Home, Who's Online, ...) show up on a single line instead of stacked in two lines? Just a little UI niggle as it is easier to read them on a single line. Also I think they were highlight in some way in the old version which I found good.

There is still a "jump to" on every forum topic and every thread....

Bottom Right.

As for it being bunched together.... I'll have to do some testing... but not everyone has as wide a screen as you do... it might run too long.

Is there a way to change the "Jump" function so that it defaults to the category you were just looking at, instead of defaulting the way it does now? For example after reading a thread in Wine Commerce, if you want to go back to the index of Wine Commerce threads, you have to click on the drop down list and find it again. I know that this is not a big deal, but the current default is set to the one set of threads that people access the least (I think).

p.s. I'm an internet nincompoop. So if this was addressed in your list above, but in something more than layman's language, I apologize.
Beta testing a new signature.

One thing I've noticed. If I use my 56K dial up line it is much slower than the older release. I'm guessing that is because the new release seems to be a bit more graphic.

I have also noticed that it is much slower at home on dialup, though I have not yet tried it from the office.

Of course, that problem will go away for me next Friday, when my T-1 is installed at home!

Yes, but it stays on " "VinoCellar Forums Information" all the time. Would really appreciate having it "jump" to the catagory I am in without having to reset it everytime.

Regarding the jump default requests, isn't that what the "index" button is for?

I just did a search and it found 50 or so posts. The only problem was that the search criteria was not present in any of the posts! Search = broken!

Eric_W is correct guys. The "index" gets you back to the section you were viewing. Try it!!!
