"Another thought...I heard that the Pahlmeyer was good in 03. I've had a few older ones and they were great! I guess this is a tasting note request, but could this be one to add to the list of possible wines for the dinner?"

Pahlmeyer is also a worthy addition in my opinion. And, Sauternes always works.

I need to follow this thread more closely... November 17 works. I can bring 2x2003 Foley Claret, as I haven't seen anyone offering those.

I don't know how other people feel, but I wouldn't mind breaking away from the strict vintage theme, especially since I'm still very long a bunch of 2001 and 2002s. I'm looking forward to trying my 2001 Harlans somewhere in the next 10 years.

How would you feel about a 2001 Smackdown Redux, some time early next year (March-ish)?

That would be very cool.  We should also have an offline to check out the central coast; one for Syrahs and Pinots.  People will be itching to open some SQN soon

Then I'll start planning those events as soon as this one is done with. Although looking at my limited stash of domestic Syrahs, I may be struggling to justify my attenance at that one. All I see are a few KBs and Stefanias.

The (one and only) good thing about the latest BB software is that the time limit on editing posts has either been removed or greatly increased.
So I'll try to keep the first post up to date with the latest info - that way people won't need to scroll through 90 pages of chatter if they want to check something.

All those ideas work for me. For the '01 cabs, maybe two different events would be needed. One for over $125 cabs, and one for under to revisit the same ones from two years ago. If you saw the '05 Harlan release prices, it definitely qualifies as "over". I would be in for both. Do you think enough people on this board would participate in a true cult cab tasting - Harlan, Colgin, Abreu, etc? I am willing to help organize some of this, as Dave can't do it all.

Dave, if we vote on the Crocker and Starr and Lewelling Wight, I can bring one of each.  I have many more 02 and 04 than 03.Â

Cheer's Zhi - let's wait and see.
I can match your Lewelling Wight, but so far we have lots of ones and twos and we'll need sets of three.

If we want to do the Crocker & Starr Stone Place Cuvee, Stacey and I can offer up the other two. It might be helpfull to get a list together of the wines we want to do (with maybe an alternate or two?) and go from there. Cheers, Paul

AAAGGHH

It looks like I may have to withdraw from the event as I need to be in Seattle that weekend.  I should know for sure soon.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is .ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.

Okay, there's six weeks to go and an awful lot of TBDs. I need you people to commit to attend and say what you're bringing.
