Jamietown,

Sorry you won't be able to make it. I wouldn't feel compelled to still supply a Cargasacchi as there will always be another opportunity to drink it.

I will send a message to Chef Cox and tell him we will be 11 for dinner and let you know his reply. So far the line up is:

Mr. and Mrs. T-Rep (2) 2003 Alcina Sangiacomo Pinot
Dave (1) - 2004 Alcina Sangiacomo Pinot
AlexRed and Julie (2)- 1988 Salon, 2004 KB RRV
Amy & Paul (2, 1 drinker) Patz & Hall Pisoni Vineyard ?
corkage (2)??
TJ (1) 2003 Loring Cargasacchi
dinwiddie (1) - 2003 Siduri Cargasacchi

I was thinking that we could try to go the vineyard theme another way, either two from the same vineyard but different producers (like the Cargasacchi), or two from the same producer and vineyard but different years (like the Alcina Sangiacomo Pinot)

That would mean that we need a 2003 KB RRV or another Pisoni Vineyard

It might also be a good thing to have some whites or champagne to start the evening. I think I might be able to come up with a sticky to go along with the fois gras in addition to what was already offered.

So perhaps the ones who have not chimed in with a wine selection could get together to work within those parameters? Maybe two different producers of Chard from the same vineyard?

I'd like to be able to tell Chef Cox the wine lineup by tomorrow so he can design the meal around the wine.

If people are saving their KBs, i can bring an 03 WS Peay if someone has an 03 Peay Peay they can put up, or vice versa. Or i can ditch the champagne and bring both ...

Chef Cox has proposed the following menu, pending our approval:

The menu(per approval) is
Amuse-Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho, Poached Gulf Shrimp
I. Pan Roasted Piopinno Mushromms, Fresh Corn Polenta, Mushroom Jus
II. Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Fuji Apples, 50 Year Balsamico, Crispy Prosciutto
III. Pan Roasted Striped Bass, Ravioli Vitello, Arrowleaf Spionach, Pinot Noir Reduction
IV. Breast Of Muscovy Duck, Glazed Baby Turnips, Poached Local Peaches, Duck Jus
V. 3 Year Gouda, Crispy Shallots, Mustard Vinaigrette
VI. Mascarpone Cheese Cake, Bruleed Black Mission Figs

Looks good to me, but I love bass and duck and fois gras.

I will chip in a 2004 Henry of Pelham Late Harvest Reserve Riesling for the fois gras course to go along with Dave's offering.

Comments, wines, Tiperillos?

Any time you are in town, kiddo, anytime you are in town - what's the matter, used up all the places in Boston?

To the Crü - Dinner this time is scheduled for 7-7:30 on Friday til we stagger out. I figure that gives us time to get there, etc.

I sent Chef Cox an e-mai asking about glasses and decanters. Will report back.

Din...

I'm in Philly right now and can't check what I have in the cellar but I have either an '03/'04 KB RRV that I could bring as well as either an '03/'04 Peay Peay that I could bring in addition to the Alcina. Just lemme know what will work.

The menu looks great but just one small point about my obvious food issues....I don't eat duck either, so if the chef can do something else for me instead of the duck course, I'll be fine. Not trying to be difficult, but seeming to do a good job of it anyway...

Alex and T-Rep,

PMs sent to each of you. As to the wines, you guys should decide, either an '03 and '04 KB RRV or a couple of different Peay vineyard, either works.

Since Corkage hasn't chimed in, perhaps we should make him bring the "Mystery Wine" for the night. Or perhaps some bubbly?

Alex, Dinwiddie was so alarmed by the note from Fred, that he blindly and mistakenly thought that there might be something wrong with your selections. His head has cleared and he now realizes that each was an inspired choice and should not be changed under any circumstances!

Fred, quit bothering the poor man.

Naw, I'm here, had to check the cellar. By way of Pisoni, I have 2000 Tandem or 2001 Ojai.

I should add that my guest is not Nicole, but a wine friend some of you met berfore. I'm trying to get his confirmation and wine selection.

I'm still upset that I cannot make this dinner - it should be a good one, and I dare say, as good as the Pinots will be, watch out for the Salon!

I'll let you guys decide. As to Nicole, oh well, I was trying to convince Karen to come with me with the thought that some wives would be there, but she declined, telling me to go be wine dorky all by myself.
