Powell's posted on WD that he's in for two.

I'm umming and ahhing what to bring. Randy wants to keep this informal so a blind Don Melchor vertical is out, thoughh I may still bring an '03

Paul was interested in the Old Creek Ranch stuff that I posted about on WS. I've got 05 Viognier, 04 Petite Sirah and 03 Cab. Any preference?

I may also bring an interesting sticky - 93 Disznoko 5 Puttonyos - especially if there's a possibility of some foie gras.

Decisions, decisions...

yhn is out, he's got a conflict. Eltejano is "maybe", he's got a guest in from out of town, he'll let us know next week, probably on WS.

I'll contact the restaurant tomorrow; if they won't bargain on corkage, we'll find somewhere else.

I'm waiting to hear, but I don't think Alexander's will be flexible on corkage. Any other suggestions in case this doesn't work out?

Also, there is a chance that I may have to bow out. There are some personal issues that may prevent my attendance; I will know for certain by Friday noon.

Randy,

I hope there's no problem, and you'll be able to make it !

I do need to pick up some wine from you, so pm me if you won't be there on Sunday.

As I said in an earlier post, I'm planning on bringing a young wine and am looking at one of these CA Cabs:

2001 Blank
2001 Clark-Claudon
2002 Clark-Claudon

Anyone have a preference ?

I can also bring a 2002 or 2003 Kongsgaard Chardonnay, if we want a white.

I've checked Alexander's wine list on line, and none of these wines appear. Is their list up-to-date ?

FYI, If we aren't going to Alexanders, Powell may decide to bow out.

I vote stay at Alexander's. Corkage doesn't bug me though, I'd rather pay $60-$90 to open 3 good bottles, with good service, and good glasses to go with good food, than downgrade any of those to save a few bucks.

Well, let's put it to a vote. I just heard back from Alexander's. The first two bottles at the table are $25 each. All additional bottles are an extra $50 each.

I personally vote no. This makes Napa Cabernet pricing seem reasonable.

Anyone interested in Forbes Mill?

I think the food is expensive for what you get also.

I vote NO.

How 'bout Parcel 104?

Closed on Sundays. If we can switch to Saturday it's a good option.

Spencer's at the Doubletree has no corkage, but they use waaay too much salt.

I liked the lamb shank at The Loft - corkage there is only $10.

Or how about Arcadia? Or Emile's?

Wow, that's an impressive corkage policy

I'm good for either Saturday or Sunday at where ever you all decide. I don't mind going further up the peninsula if that makes sense.

Loft is good - but we'd likely want to bring our own glasses.

Arcadia is expensive on corkage.

Haven't been to Forbes Mill since the new manager took over, that would be good.

Also, anyone know corkage at Sent Sovi? It's usually very wine friendly.

If all else fails I have been told that Chateau Haut Tubee is available as well. I'd have to scramble a bit to put a menu together, but it could be done.

I've never been to Spencer's. Can't you just ask for no salt?

Emile's was tough on corkage last time plus he is in Switzerland somewhere climbing a mountain so I can't "negotiate" with him.

I've never been to The Loft.

Forbe's Mill is good but we still don't know what the corkage policy is. I forgot to look at the bill last time we were there . Larry is coming over for dinner tonight so I'll bug him.

Have eaten at Sent Sovi once since the new owners have been there; terrible food and experience.

Haut Tubbee would be fantastic! The chef doesn't have to be as "fancy" as last time.

I will suggestThe Basin in Saratoga. I know I can get some sort of deal on corkage and the food is pretty good. They also have a private room.

I'm also pretty sure that I could work out a deal at The Plumed Horse in Saratoga. They also have private rooms.

Probably. I've only been there twice, maybe three times, and I keep forgetting.

The kids like The Outback. I don't like it because they do too much salt.

I just remembered a place that I would like to try;The Los Altos Grill. I understand they do not charge corkage.

I have just been told that I can't go to an offline this weekend .

Has anyone asked Powell if he's coming if we change venue's?

I was thinking I can do 'steak house' if we come to doing it here. Grill Rib Eye's and do the traditional sides family style. I might start with a lobster dish I had at Bistro Elan Friday, that I'd like to try out on willing volunteers.

Really any where is ok with me. Except maybe Outback
