I'm bringing a Scholium Project wine. It comes in 3 flavors: Chardonnay, Petite Sirah or Syrah. Any preference?

I'll add an incentive. If Corkage or JohnnyB come (or both), I'll forgo bringing the RC and bring my only bottle of the 1990 Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Brut Rare.

I thought we agreed that since I cannot come, no one will be bringing any good champagne???

BTW DW, if that is your 1 bottle of Champagne, then you are right... itis a good one.

Oh well, if you are only going to have one, might as well make it a good one.

Dinwiddie, if you end up bringing the RC, I'll substitute on of my Carlisle zins to match against it.

Hey everyone, there's a possible snow storm coming our way with a forecast of anywhere between 3 to 6 inches of snow starting tomorrow afternoon. Sadly, I'm inclined to postpone this dinner, because I don't want you guys driving home after a wine dinner in 6 inches of snow. What do you guys think?

As much as wine might make for a pretty interesting drive home after dinner, I wouldn't be against erring on the side of caution....

Sounds good to me since I'll be driving back from Baltimore before the dinner.

You guys just don't get it. A little peice of wisdom I gained from growing up in Maine. If your car is swerving all over the place then the cops think it's from the snow, not the wine!!! Sheesh, I can't keep giving this stuff away.

Since I only live about 10 minutes from the restaurant - I defer to the wishes of those who have a more arduous trip home. will there be a definite decision announced -- Jaime???

Well, jaimetown, it is your call. It might be a good idea to delay though, IMO.

I just PMed T-rep about some wine he was going to lug along to the dinner for me (to not do it) as I might not be able to make it to the dinner tonight after all. Between some work stuff that has already popped up it's ugly head (and my not being able to leave early as I planned) and the likely traffic jams during rush hour for me to make it down from Owings Mills to home to get the wine and then to the dinner, well, there's a good chance I would either be really late, or just not make it at all.

Does anyone have Jaimetown's mobile phone number (in case he is out visiting customers today) so we can confirm if the dinner is for sure on or off and then post back here to inform everyone?

I am just going to call off the dinner tonight. Traffic is going to be bad all afternoon, and the first snowstorm of the year always throws everyone for a loop.

I was looking forward to this dinner, but we'll have to do it some other time, most likely next year. Sorry guys.

No worries, JT. Hopefully we can just reschedule it for January or February.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE!

Well, I think it was a good idea to call it off. I know how nutty folks get here when it snows a little bit, and personally, I'd prefer to not have to drive with those idiots out there, especially if I have a good bit of wine in me. But I am definitely looking forward to doing it soon.

Besides, since I have to be training a bunch of lawyers all day tomorrow, it is probably best that I do it without a hangover and with a good night's sleep.
